  1. It must really be nice to be able to miss a week or more of work and not have any financial problems. I for one would prefer not depleting my vacation and savings accounts every year. No, I can not do my job from home, very few people can. How much to spend? Enough. Let's start with 1 million and see what that gets us. How much maintenance would there be on "A piece of equipment that only gets used a couple times a year"? My guess would be not much. There has been an ice event at least once every year for at least 8 years. 3 times already this season. If the "Climate Change" yellers are corr
  2. This is why the current stuff needs to be taken care of as soon as possible. The weather reports are not calling for a warm spell until the weekend. I don't mind a day too much, but a full week of waiting for the warm to come is ridiculous. I do appreciate the road crews for what they have done so far. It does seem like some areas are more able to deal with these weather incidents better than others. This is the 3rd time this season that we have had an ice event, and we are only a couple months into the ice and snow season. I think that an investment into some more equipment would be money
  3. I shoveled my driveway yesterday and it is fine today. I even get a puddle in a low spot and it was still liquid early this morning when I got up to see if I could make it into work. You have to get most of the slush and snow off the roads. The roads will not be perfect, but they will be drivable, even with a bit of moisture. The ground is not hard frozen and the roads will thaw and stay thawed before the grassy areas. I just walked out to Brownsville Road, it is starting to clear up. It should be driveable soon. The side roads getting to it are still very slippery. If the majority of snow/
  4. That is why I said late morning early afternoon, when it starts to thaw. Get it off the roads before it freezes again. The roads were slushy yesterday, had a plow come through then, it would not be horrible today.
  5. I guess we are all just going to write off this entire week if the popular consensus is "just wait for it to melt". It is looking like this weekend might get warm enough to melt some ice. Anyone have any updates on what is clear-ish? Brownsville Rd hasn't seen any plows yet and is covered in ice. It melted down some yesterday, but froze overnight. It may clear up slightly today with some heat, a plow would really help out late morning or early afternoon. I hope no emergencies happen out here.
  6. I have used the My Voter Page for quick access to the candidates pages My Voter Page Link and the Ga Voter Guide on AJC AJC Voter Guide Link to get the info to make my decisions. The AJC guide is run by the Woman's Voters League, they claim that they sent the questions to the candidates and have just posted the responces as received, no editing. Some candidates did not answer. Hope these links help.
  7. Is the county planning on deicing the roads or are we just stuck? I haven't been out today, but the road in front of the house is still an ice skating rink. Cobb county wasn't too bad coming home from work last night, Paulding hadn't done anything. This tiny bit of snow/ice shouldn't shut everything down for several days. The county and cities are responsible to maintain the roads, GET BUSY! It usually snows/ices every year, get some equipment to deal with it. I guess they just want react to people that have to drive in this and pull them out of the ditch, not deice the roads and prevent the
