  1. My 4 year old took her first class at Axis last night. I am amazed at how well trained the students are. Not only that, but they are such a great group of kids....very sweet and helpful to my little girl. She had a blast and has been dancing since she got home last night (with only a break to go to bed :) ). The staff is wonderful. Ms. Amy is a fantastic dancer and teacher. My daughter warmed up to her very easily. Ms. Ellen is most helpful and the dancers' parents were so nice !! I am so thrilled we found this studio and I look forward to my little one studying dance here for many years to come.

I am so glad that your daughter liked it...I have seen such an improvement with my youngest since Amy has been her teacher... she now looks forward to going to dance class.

  2. My daughters go to Axis...my daughters have been students at 2 other studios in the area, and my 11 year old is more serious than what they offer. She wants to be a professional dancer when she grows up...We have made friends at the other 2 studios, and truly love the owners...but we went to Axis...we love Amy, she really has been awesome, my youngest took dance all year at one of the other studios mentioned above and was not up to par, she has been with Axis for 1 month, and never been in Amys class until now, and she has taken the time to show her things that she needs to know. As Garnet pointed out, visit the studios in the area and ask the questions. They will tell you if they are more of a recreational studio or not, at least the 2 that we came from will. You can visit Axis website axisdancecenter.org - you will get some of your answers about them from there.

  3. Speaking of dancing.....has anyone ever taken lessons as an adult never having had them as a child? If so, where did you take them and did you enjoy it?

I did...I started to take dancing as a child and broke my leg playing basketball...so a couple of years ago I took tap and jazz as an adult...had a blast...Axis is offering classes for adults and am considering it since I have 2 daughters that are enrolled there now...Amy is awesome...my kids absolutely adore her...if anyone has a chance to stop in, they should...she is very friendly and fun, but at the same time very disciplined...

  4. Try Cabana Tans...Staci does an awesome job and you do not turn orange...she has been in business for 5 years and very reasonable. I believe she is a commerce member on p.com...she will send you any info. you need. she tans my daughter for dance competitions.

  5. You know...I realized this about 16 years ago...my daugter was born 8 weeks premature, and had multiple health issues. She got to come home after being in the hospital for 6 weeks, and I was feeling sorry for myself and for her...well, it only took one walk down the hallways of Egleston for me to realize how blessed I truly was, and I thanked God for giving her to me, I got to carry her home, and take her to the dr. and watch her grow...many, many, many parents don't get to do that...I am truly blessed, even though she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, and her lung collapsed the night she was born, she had a heart defect, and possible brain injury...she is going on 17, healthy...her ASD (heart condition) closed up before she was a year old, and she started walking when she was 3. She started school in the special needs pre school in Cobb county, and was mainstreamed into regular classes in kindergarten. (she has also maintained an A/B average until this year.) She has had multiple surgeries, but none life threatening...I am truly blessed...I now have her, and her two healthy little sisters, and I thank God everyday for them, and my wonderful husband.

I really feel that if anyone is feeling like it is unfair for their children to be sick or injured...just walk down the hallways of a childrens hospital, there is always someone who is in far worse condition and you can truly be thankful that it is not you.

  6. I never caught my older 2 if they ever did, but my 5 year old did this a few months ago...actually, we were in a christian book store, and were looking at cards, I turned my back and she stuck one in her purse. I paid for my purchases, walked outside, and was about to go into another store, but told my daughter that she could have the change from my purchase...I opened her purse, and found the card. I pulled her aside, explained to her how wrong it was to steal...(especially the christian book store), made her go in and give back the card and apologize to the clerk. She cried for an hour, she felt guilty, and made me promise not to tell her sisters. I did tell my husband, but told him not to say anything, I felt that she was truly sorry.

  7. We took a bunch of girls about 8 years ago, they had a blast...they still talking about petting the giraffe. We rode in their bus...we had 13 girls and about 4 moms, the girls still talk about it when we get together, and they are all juniors and seniors in high school.

  8. OMG! Those were the days! And yes, I remember weaving pot holders. Remember shrinky dinks and metal lunch boxes?

I remember my metal lunchbox having a weird smell...

I also remember the fun of using Silly Putty on Sunday's comics....Which Monkee was the cutest.....and having ONE TV IN THE WHOLE HOUSE that got 3 stations on a good day (with the help of a rabbit ear antenna).

My kids can't believe we only got 3 main channels and cartoons were only on Sat Mornings and right after school during the week.

Did anyone else watch HR Puffinstuff (sp)?

I loved that show...remember witchy poo?

OMG such a flash back!!! My big memory was watching Romper Room and hopeing to GOD she would say my name in the magic mirror :) And do ya'll remember my FAVORITE toy of all? The Farah Faucet head that you could do her hair and make -up? I loved that thing. And yes i had the Donnie and Marie dolls and who could forget the Cheer doll with that long hair to her feet. :) Those was the days. Oh yeah i had the cutesiest poster on my wall of the hottie ANDY GIBB !!! Loved him!!!!!!

I was heartbroken when they never called my name on Romper Room.

and did anyone ever have a crush on Erik Estrada from CHiPs?

  9. Is anybody here refering to Barrington Farms subdivision?

At the next HOA meeting you should bring this up. Bring up how it alerts people that you're not home when they stay tacked up on the boxes, and alert them that they're providing personal info (names, phone numbers) to potential I.D. thieves who can snatch them off the boxes. Make them aware that lawyers would love to blame someone for alerting burglars who's not home via fliers.

They should adopt an email system. Have the email address for each household, and also have a centralized location (gazebo, community center, pool house, etc) where the post the latest fliers... NOT leave fliers on each box.

    No not Barrington Farms...

I believe I will bring it up at the next meeting, I have talked to one of the co-presidents and voiced my concern, but apparantly I was the only one in the neighborhood that really has a problem with this.
