Here is ONE help for those interested, http://www.nps.gov/civilwar/soldiers-and-sailors-database.htm you can choose either Union or Confederate for look up, I'm very familiar with this site and recent changes actually hinder look ups, but I suggest the following. Start with Union or Confederate then LAST NAME ONLY, sometimes if you put in first name with last name or first name initial and last name for some reason you won't pull up info. Also these records was transcribed from written records so last names may be incorrectly transcribed, I will give example with one of my soldiers las

Mon April 2nd @ 7:45 a.m. on 278 going east IN HIRAM city limits I had a Gray Ford LTD tag # 8393 weave over into my lane numerous times forcing me almost off the road, as I pulled beside this vehicle I saw this white male continually looking down TEXTING, no wonder the grill of his car was damaged.
