  1. To All, Months ago, I announced my intentions to run for office. At that time, I expressed my desire to go door to door and meet everyone. I have done my best to fullfill this obligation. I would like to Thank Everyone for the support and well wishes. This election has engaged the city and made people take notice. Even if you don't support me, I want you to know it has been my honor to meet you and engage you in conversation. If you have not yet voted, I encourage you to vote tomorrow at City Hall. 2. The only candidates I am aware of is Boyd Austin and myself for mayor. There are city council positions up for election, but I am not aware of any opposition to the incumbents.
  3. Here are a few specific examples. Small Business 1. Target the incubator companies at Georgia Tech and promote our area for possible relocation. There have been many start ups that have relocated to places as far out as Gainesville. We provide a better commute and the infrastructure capable for success. 2. Make the city bid process more transparent by making it an online process. 3. Promote local business both online and with periodic events. Providing better customer service 1. Water should not be cut off to residents and businesses without a notice. 2. The police force d
  4. Steven I appreciate your opinions and your educated argument, but I am trying to introduce myself and determine what Dallas residents want. I need to determine if Dallas really desires a new Mayor. I have feedback from quite a few people that have responded in the affirmative. I would prefer to meet you and personally debate this subject. I apologize if this comes off rude and I hope you don't feel offended.
  5. Steven Is it not the municipal governments responsibility to work with county and state legislatures to provide the best opportunities for its constituents. Mayor's are supose to fight, negotiate, and communicate the benefits of their locations to acquire industries.
  6. Steven The KIA plant opening production in West Point, Georgia was one such example. The facility required an initial capital investment of over $217,000,000 and based on conservative projections created 6000 jobs. The jobs were spread across suppliers as well as KIA itself.
  7. Ok, one simple question. 1) Would you allow the citizens of the city of Dallas to vote, via referendum, as to whether the city government of Dallas should be dissolved? I happen to believe that most small city governments in this state are glorified pork barrel operations. They tax the residents and businesses. They tax the citizens of this country through worthless pork barrel projects. They run up the interest in our federal debt without accountability or remorse. Most of all... They are hypocrites incarnate. City governments bestow an illusion of practicing 'small busine
  8. My family's prayers are with you. I have placed a few phone calls to family members in San Diego and they will call me if any information is available.
  9. Whitey I do apologize for not breaking down the individual projects and being specific on the funds for exact projects. I was not trying in anyway to diminish Mayor Austin's accomplishments. I would like to go on record as stating that my actions will align with the desires of Dallas citizens.
  10. I would like to first state my appreciation to those for replying to this post, but I need to answer questions you may have regarding Who I am?, What my plans are?, and How I plan to accomplish those plans? The race will not be won if all I do is post on PCom. That being said I do understand the strength this forum has reaching potential voters. I promise I will meet most of Dallas face to face by election day.
  11. Surepip I do not want to take anything away from Mayor Austin. He has had many great accomplishments for the city of Dallas. I understand most of the funding for these projects have come from federal grants, but due to the current state of the economy and the projected federal cuts, we cannot rely on these soft funds going forward. The city has to be able to obtain sustainable and reliable streams of revenue. This is accomplished by nurturing small business while targeting companies that can benefit from our resources. The fact is 65-75% of Paulding County residents make their money o
  12. First, I do understand your hesitation towards my statements. We have all heard the same jargon for years. 1. How are you for Small Business here in PC? I plan on making sure ordinances are not created in a way that hinders a person's ability to do business. I come from a family that owns hair salons, an electrical estimating company, and a construction company in Ohio and California and have seen firsthand the struggles they faced. 2. How do you plan on being Different? I hope you all will hold me accountable and I plan on being transparent. I cannot say anything
  13. I would like to introduce myself; my name is Marvin Tingler. This fall, I plan on running against Boyd Austin for Mayor of Dallas. I am posting on this forum to give everybody an opportunity to get to know a little about myself. I will answer any and all questions posted honestly and thoroughly. I am open to meet with all individuals and groups, if they so desire just PM me, and we can arrange a time and place. I will start by saying, I am a true advocate of small business. I believe the government should operate in a manner that encourages its citizens to become entrepreneurs and busines
  14. We should not renew our specialized tags, but instead take $35.00 and donate it to the cause we are representing. This action will prevent our causes from seeing a decline in the revenues they so desperately need. Animal Protection, Breast Cancer, Red Cross, and Veterans are all causes that have seen great reduction in funding due to the economic down turn lets not further those problems because of politicians.
