  1. Right now we do not have anything planned. My two boys will have to spend most days at the sitters since both parents work.

expenses are pretty tight, so maybe some day trips are in order this year. We used to go to the beach for a week, but with the gas prices the way they are that is probably nixed this year.

Wife has had to use most of her vacation/sick days so looks like if we go anywhere it might just be me and the two boys.

Anyone got some suggestions on where to go with a 12yr and 6yr old boy that is not too far away?

  2. This is a great deal!!

If I needed a timing belt I would be at your door.

If you are unsure of using Johnboy Automotive, check all the great responses to his posts.

He just did the brakes on both my cars and will be getting all my business from now on.

Nice to find an honest mechanic who doesn't charge an arm and leg!!

    More details to come

After the services, Melanie and Jason are having people gather at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Hiram.

(this is the church right across the church from the funeral home)

Starting around 4pm the doors will open for all who would like to come by.

I know Melanie and Jason would appreciate any fellow PCOMMERS who would like to show up.

Hopefully I will see some of you guys there.

    Later,

    We Have Lost Our Battle

    Posted 9 hours ago

As some of you know my soldier lost his battle against AT/RT today 01.05.10 @ 1:25am. I have to say I have and will never meet a man with the strength this little man showed. We are crushed, our hearts ache and mommy is slowly crumbling into several tiny pieces inch by inch. Aiden, as always, fought this battle with strength, courage, and the utmost integrity. I am honored to have mothered such a brave little soldier that will always and forever remain my HERO. Before my little man left our sides I promised him that the pain was over and he was forever free. No more needles, doctors, chemo, and most of all no more pain. Anyone who knows Aiden deeply knows that he NEVER cried or complained and he handled his disease with so much grace. Mommy and daddy will miss you son and now I know for sure that, "Every little thing, gonna be alright"!

The services for our soldier will be held 01.09.10 @ Bellamy Funeral Home on 3551 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway(also known as Thornton Rd. or 278). There will be open visitation from 12pm-2pm and then the memorial service will be held at 2:00pm. After the service family and friend will gather and directions for this will be available at the Chapel.

    12pm-2pm visitation and 2pm-3pm memorial

You are welcome to send flowers, but we are asking that if you would really like to do something for the family our wishes are for you to make a donation to Scottish Rite in Aiden's name or you can deposit money into his Assistance Fund to help with costs.

I love you Woogie Bear mommy has you in her heart.

  6. I know Melanie & Jason pretty well and have tried to help out as they have gone through this ordeal. It just breaks my heart that any parent would have to go through what they have.

You will not find two stronger people anywhere!!!

Aiden was a fighter and I am sure he got that from his parents.

    What I was wondering....

Is there anyway we could put something up on the community chest to help them out with their expenses?

I am not sure what needs to be done to make this happen, but they could use all the help they can get right now, Jason was laid off before Christmas so there is no income coming in for this family. I am willing to do whatever needs to be done to help them out.

Anyone that could help make this happen, I would appreciate your help.

    Thank you.

  7. I knew there was a new theatre there. I did not know it was an IMAX theatre though. :drinks:

This is the one we went to. Barrett Commons AMC. It is on the road that goes past Best Buy.

We bought our tickets online @ movies.com, when we got there the people in line we upset goes it was sold out for the IMAX version till Monday.

  8. I saw this yesterday in IMAX 3D, Really made the movie awesome.

They had a guy come out before the show and say that the IMAX 3D may cause motion sickness in some people.

I thought the IMAX was totally worth the extra $$$

  9. PLEASE keep this family in your prayers.

They are having a rough time right now.

Dad fell and tore his "Tommy John" ligiment and may have to have surgery.

Mom DOES have to have surgery on a cyst and will have to be in anouther hospital away from her baby for a couple of days.

We have been doing various fundraisers for them, but it seems like just a drop of water in a mighty ocean.

Just say a prayer for brave little Aiden, I know he and his family could use all the good vibes they can get.

    Thanks.

  10. BUMP

Wanted to bump this back to recent topics.

Please keep this family in your prayers. They are in for the long haul.

Melanie and Jason are avid disc golfers and the Atlanta disc golf scene is like a huge family.

We have run two fundraiser disc golf events so far. One was out in Douglas county last week, and today we were out at Oregon Park in Cobb County.

The two events brought in just under $2,000.00 which we we deposited into their Wachovia account.

If anyone out there would like to help this family, please do what you can. If not monatary, maybe just a quick prayer.

    Thanks,

    Mike D

  11. RACEGIRL,

I was going to post something for Jason & Melanie, but was unsure if I should.

There are a bunch of us praying for Aiden!

He is a strong lil man, and I beleive he is going to be one of those in the 10%!!

For those who can, please read the care pages. The family has set-up a account for donations and can use all the help they can get.

I can only imagine the costs of the care for Aiden and I know come this payday I will be donating what little I can spare to his account, I challange all of you who read this to PLEASE donate what you can. Even $5.00 will help.

    Thanks,

    Mike D

  15. Denise,

Just wanted you guys to know that you inspire us by all the love you have inside. Ashton is a lucky little guy to have such a great "Nanna".

Lately things have been kinda rough around our house and I have felt like giving up. Then I read your updates and realize how much love is still in this world and it gives me hope. Please give Ashton a big "hug" for me and God Bless you!!

  16. I have been to Disney quite a few times growing up.

My one piece of advice if you are using a stroller, is to bring some bright colored ribbon or streamers and tie them onto your stroller.

Makes the stroller easier to find after you come off a ride or attraction.

Many times once you go in, the strollers get moved to keep them out of the way and it is hard to find yours in this sea of strollers that all look the same.

Other than that, Have a good time.

  17. snikerfitz,

If your interested, I can look in the garage. I have a 9 yr old who played baseball for a season when he was 5 or 6 then decided he liked soccer better.

I know there is a bat and a batting helmet somewhere collecting dust.

Let me know and I will look for ya.

    Later,

    Mike D

  18. my cockatiels laid eggs all the time. I found out it was something they can do even if not with a male. It is very difficult bc if you take the eggs out too quickly they would just lay more but if you leave them in too long then they could go crazy waiting for them to hatch. I knew ours weret fertile obviously...so I would leave the eggs in for a few days then take them out. You dont want them to lay too many eggs bc it is actually unhealthy for them. It depletes there calcium level a lot so make sure she gets plenty of calcium. I used to take my birds to the vet in the kmart shopping center. Dont remember the name but it was the only one locally I could find.

We use the Avian vet in Rome.

I will see if I can find her card. She is awesome with birds.
