  2. What she said!!! :p

Nahh, I've finally joined Facebook to keep in touch with family and dog friends. But, I'm going to draw the line at Twitter. My life isn't interesting enough to keep a running commentary on it. And, I'm not really sure I want to be that connected to other people. I spend way too much time online as it is. If I got off this computer at a reasonable hour, maybe I'd get a decent night's sleep.

  3. When I bought my house (new) in 2003, a survey was not required by tge nirtgage company. In the old days, a survey was always done.

Be aware that a survey WAS required by most mortgage companies. A survey is not required as a condition to buy a house or property unless your mortgage company requires it. For that reason, the written legal description of the property will be on file with the county, but a survey may not. A survey of 3 acres should cost less than $600 unless there is a problem with the legal description.

  4. The largest park is actually in Alaska --- they should have said the lower 48 states.

The Aderondack park is actually the largest in the continental US.

    Whats wrong with it?

  5. The Cobb Civc Center's Andersen Theatre has a series each year with long-ago performers --- They call it the Encore series --- i call it The Old Folks Series.

This year they scheduled Tony Orlando, Mickey Rooney and his wife as well as Vicki Lawrence, who played Mama on the Carol Burnett show. We saw Tony this year an he was excellent and had the most talented band ever with him. We saw Mickey in Cedartown last year and he was wonderfull and his wife is an excellent singer. We were going to see Vicki tonight, but her husband needed a serious operatiin, so she cancelled. we had seen her a few years back and she does an excellent show. All shows have the artists performing and reminiscing.

Can't wait to see who the have next spring. I hear it will include the Osmond Brothers.

  6. Found the post below ...

The Spotlight Saloon at the corner of Nebo Road and Route 92 in Hiram had a sign out about karioke but i don't know what night they have it.

    See here for addr &phone.

    Hey folks,

Just a reminder that Spotlight Karaoke is taking one week off and in it's place this Friday night, come out and see MacFarlane's house band Man Made. They will be doing their own set but also for you singers that might miss Spotlight Karaoke, Man Made will be running a round or two of Bandaoke. Come and sing with a live band.

And don't worry folks, I'm just on a one week vacation, Spotlight Karaoke will return in one week on April 24 at eight pm.

And don't forget starting May 6 we add a Wednesday night edition of Spotlight Karaoke from 7:30p-11:30p. That's two chances to come sing your hearts out with us.

Also, make sure you catch Pcom's own Subby on the keyboards Thursday nights at 6:30.

Come and out and enjoy some of the best entertainment and the greatest food and atmosphere you will find in your own backyard.

  7. My son-in-law was canvasing parts of Cobb --- he trained for a week and then started. After 2 weeks, they told him they were done, so he's out of work again.

They told him that Paulding still had work to do, but wouldn't send him out there.

Census workers coming to neighborhoods near you

    By Kent A. Miles

    The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

    Friday, April 17, 2009

U.S. census workers have started making their way through neighborhoods in metro Atlanta and throughout the country verifying addresses for the upcoming people count.

More than 3,000 census workers in Georgia are updating addresses, the first step in ensuring that every household receives a census questionnaire in March 2010.

Census workers canvassing in an area can be identified by official badges. They may ask residents to verify a building’s address or whether there are additional living quarters, but will not ask for personal information or bank or Social Security numbers, according to a bureau news release.

Sheila L. Jack, the Census Bureau’s spokeswoman for the Atlanta region, said law enforcement has been notified of the canvassing operation.

The census is required by the Constitution to take place every 10 years. It is used to determine how much federal money state and local governments receive, as well as representation in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Your chance to be a movie extra

Always wanted to get closer to Ashton Kutcher, Katherine Heigl or Tom Selleck without being hauled off in cuffs? You can turn up today for the “Five Killers” casting call for a scene to be shot at the Tributary community. We hear Kutcher is playing a former CIA operative turned family man trying to retire in suburbia.

The call will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. in the cafeteria of New Manchester Elementary School, 2242 Old Lower River Road, Douglasville. The casting director for extras is seeking about 150 men, women and children of various ages. No acting experience is necessary, and all extras roles are nonspeaking. Applicants should bring a recent non-returnable photo, no larger than 4-by-6.

Buzz hears the extras will appear in one of the movie’s major scenes, a block party set in Tributary’s Founders Park (why do we envision bullets flying?). According to the extras casting director, the roles pay $52.56 for eight hours of work, with overtime after eight hours. Additional information is available at www.tributaryga.com/blog.

  10. Yes, I tried installing IE8 bud decided i wasn't quite ready for it and backed it out.

Now it ends at Real Estate --- forgot where it is supposed to end.

Are you using IE 7? Something that Pubby was adding to the site is conflicting with IE 7. He is working on the problem as we speak.
  11. That's where i clicked --- earler today it ended at Weekend --- now it's ending at May They Rest in Peace

Bus tour to showcase downtowns in 9 cities

Canton and eight other cities will have a chance to showcase their downtowns when the 2009 Heart and Soul Bus Tour rolls through parts of North Georgia Wednesday through April 17.

The tour, hosted by the Georgia Cities Foundation and other partners, puts the spotlight on downtown improvements that have resulted from public-private partnerships.

Other stops on the tour are Dallas, Rockmart, Rome, Calhoun, Cartersville, Dahlonega, Toccoa and Duluth.

  13. You can also try the Pizza Fam, off of 113 North of 278. Everthing, except the pizza, is good.

Also ate at the Steak House in Rockmart and it's good too.

There is also a Slate Grill in Marietta off of Whitlock in Marietta,in the Kroger Shopping center, that is very good, with an unusual menu

Chicago's in the same shopping center is one of our favorites.

We've eaten at the Slate Market Grill and really enjoyed it. Portions are HUGE!

There's also a steak house that I think is called The Steak House off 278 going from Rockmart to Cedartown that we've tried once and it was good too.

Both are good for a change of pace. DW wants to go to a cajun place up in Acworth, it's supposed to be good but haven't talked with anyone who's been there. Wondering how it compares to Gumbeaux's in D-ville.
