  1. They are right. I'm sorry you were broken into. Trust me, I know what it's like. When I first moved to Marietta from TN, we were broken into - my second day of my new job. Everything outside was gone. Our TV, 500 CD changer (full, it was 2002), Playstation, computer, cable box and remotes, all gone. My panties were laying on the floor in wads with the top drawer of my dresser smashed and half on the bed, half on the floor. Jewelry was gone, cash gone, and keepsakes from my grandfathers that had passed in '96 & '99, all gone. My dog in his crate had been kicked over, and was covered in food and water, and his own filth. He never went in the crate, but that day he did. There was literally a trail of CDs through the woods. No one was ever caught.

BW is right, and I'm sorry you misunderstood what he was trying to say. I understand what it's like to feel so violated. In your own home. To know that someone rifled through everything you own, and nothing meant a thing to him. But everything to you. Please understand what he meant, and it wasn't intended to be mean.

    I'm sorry.

  2. Ditto here.

And I can confirm the TN information. My brother lives there, and pays no state income tax, no ad valorem tax, and his property taxes IN THE CITY on a house that's worth THREE TIMES what mine is are lower than mine are. Sorry, but I'm voting NO. lowrider is correct on another point - EXTREME distrust of government. EXTREME.

Yep. I'll never, ever understand it.

  3. I was wondering about this one last night - 6% state tax plus %8 sales tax. In TN most areas are 9.75% sales tax. They still make it and have roads, etc.

I know. I grew up there, and moved here about 10 years ago. I was 21, and went from making $8.25 to $13/hr. I thought I was going o be rolling in money. After taxes I brought home little less. I don't understand how TN can do it, but GA can. I'd gladly pay 9.25% sales tax if we didn't have the car tax or income tax.

  4. Everyone already pays app.27 cents per gallon of gas on taxes. On a 30 gallon fill up that is over $8 in taxes every time I fill up...Where is that money going?

I have not gotten a raise in over 4 years.....and the state wants me to vote them a raise?nea.gif

Where does my car tax go every time I renew my tags? I hate it. Every year almost $500 we have to pay.

In TN it's $25 a year. No income tax, either. I'm voting NO.

  5. Melissa is here. People have questions for her.

They ask. Instead of answers they get remarks from everyone *but* Melissa. Remarks accusing people of trolling for Paulette. Remarks about Paulette's voting record, her tax issues, etc. etc. this whole thread.

This thread is titled for Melissa Morrison. Not Paulette. And I don't live in district 19 so I have no say in this race. I just think this is silly. And, no, I'm not rooting for Paulette. No, I am not okay with her tax issues. I'm just making an observation.

  6. What the heck, Whitey? She asked Mrs. Morrison, not you. And the questions were not for or from Paulette. Paulette is not on here, Mrs. Morrison is. These are valid questions a voter would like to know the answers to; after all, it's Mrs. Morrison's thread. Paulette's not on here.

Why can't people just ask her questions, so a voter can be informed? I just don't understand. Why do you and others have to jump all over folks that are looking for answers? So childish.

  7. No, I haven't, but Ill check her out. I bet I'd like it; I've heard of her before. Griffith is local, too.

Have you read "Running With Scissors"? That's my favorite bio.

I actually forgot; I do like some Sookie Stackhouse when the mood hits, and those are romance I guess. LOL

Right now I'm reading the second book in the "Game of Thrones" series, "Clash of Kings."

See what I mean? I'm all over the place, lol.

  8. It's about a retired detective from the ATL area that moves to Daytona Beach. He gets pulled into a sheriff's department corruption scandle unwittingly, but he can't get out once he's in... It's really good. I couldn't put it down. It sort of reminds me of a Sandra Brown novel, but more in depth on the police side, if that makes sense. Not her romance stuff; I don't do romance. But her mystery/thriller stuff.

Also, I read every genre out there except romance. LOL I love to read.

  9. Hubs is reading 11/22/63 right now; he LOVES it, and this man never, ever reads fiction.

I tried a sample in my Kindle of 50 Shades. Writing was terrible, and I couldn't even finish it. I'm not into erotica.

Though I did just finish "Code of Misconduct" by CA Griffith, and it was VERY good!

  10. Just an (hopefully helpful) observation here.

When I read this thread I get the feeling that pubby and Surepip are going out of their way to answer for Melissa, and frankly that isn't doing her any good.

Melissa seems like (and I'm told she is indeed) a fine lady. You gentlemen would serve her candidacy better staying clear and letting her represent herself.

    JMO....

    Agree.

  11. I saw a posting on a sign for the retirement home on the East West Conn. I can't think of the name of it, though.

Presbyterian Village is a retirement community off East West Connector. There is independent and assisted living. Then there is assisted living for memory support (need of CNA's) and Health Services (nursing home, need of CNA's) so you might check with them. 770-819-7000 ask for Human Resourses.

    Thank you. That is it.
