Stay afloat on outdoor watering restrictions

Keeping up with changes to the outdoor watering rules is like simultaneously watching three March Madness basketball games and programming your DVR.

We’re here to help. For most metro Atlantans (including those who live in Bartow, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett or
    Paulding
counties), here’s what you need to know*:

    No. 1:
Water your landscape only on your scheduled day. Even after the drought is over and the outdoor watering restrictions are lifted, you will be allowed to water only on an odd-even schedule, based on your home or business address.

    • Odd-numbered addresses water Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays; even-numbered addresses water Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

    No. 2:
We are under a Level IV Drought Response, which means you can water your petunias and oak trees for only a limited time.

    • If you use a soaker hose or drip irrigation, water trees, shrubs and flowers for up to one hour before 10 a.m. on assigned days. You are not allowed to water your grass this way.

    • If you only have a garden hose, you need to use the kind with a deadman’s switch and spray your landscape for up to 25 minutes before 10 a.m. on your assigned days. Using this method, you can water your entire landscape, including the grass.

•It’s OK to use both a soaker hose or drip irrigation and the garden hose, for the specified times.

    No. 3:
If you are planting a new landscape, which can be installed by the homeowner or a professional, you are allowed to use a sprinkler for 10 weeks for any length of time before 10 a.m. on your assigned days. But before you can use the more lenient rules for new plantings, homeowners each time must complete the Outdoor Water Use Registration Program on the Georgia Urban Agriculture Council Web site. The convenience charge is $4.95.

    No. 4:
    Don’t forget the exemptions!

    • Vegetables and vegetable gardens. If you are growing vegetables, you are allowed to water those plants as needed, on any day of the week.

    • If you withdraw water from a well or use recycled water, you can water any time, although less water evaporates in the early morning and late evening.

    • Water may be used to water-in pesticides and herbicides.

    No. 5:
Some outdoor watering activities are still illegal, including washing your own car at home and operating an ornamental water fountain or pond that does not have fish in it. Water-dependent businesses such as commercial car washes and power-washers, and fountains that support aquatic life are exempt from the rules.

It’s OK to fill your swimming pool whenever you want.

More liberal outdoor watering rules apply for
Bartow, Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, Coweta, Fayette, Henry and Rockdale counties. Contact your water provider for more information.

LMAO Can I pour my bath water into my Ornamental water fountain?

  2. Ok, I did the numbers and figured out it is time to refinance my home. I figure I can do a 15 or even a 10yr and still end up with the same payment as I have now. I have a old high 6.5% rate

Who can tell me where the best rates and easiest place to do this with?

I have great credit and all the other items are in line etc.

    TIA

Try Brand Mortgage ask for Chris Shumate. I Just got a home loan with them

  3. Hello all, well considering that (tax assessors) have valued my property at $123,120.00, I need to appeal this. The home beside mine is currently selling for $50,000, a house 2 houses away just sold for $60,000, and another house which my sister in law just bought in the neighborhood sold for $71,000 and it is the exact same house that we have, floor plans and elevations are the exact same. So this tells me that my house is definitely not worth $123,120.00.

How do I file for an appeal. I tried searching on paulding.gov for the paperwork to fill out, but I could not find it, just a bunch of pdf.s stating that I need to go down to the assessors office and file. Has anyone done this, if so, could you please explain the steps for me?

I will also file for homestead exemption at the same time. I really hope that this was already done when I 1st moved into my house, but I will just double check.

I Just closed on my house at 3 pm and the att told me that Paulding requires that you go down in person to file your homestead taxes, I also had a tax assesscor revisit the proporty before I bought it because it was assessed at $168,000 2 years ago before it foreclosed and I paid $125,000 he did adjust it because the sale depended on it

Man tells HOA he won’t take down flagpole

A Cherokee County resident is refusing to quit flying the American flag atop a 14-foot pole, even though his homeowners association is taking him to court and threatening him with $25-a-day fines.

Ron Tripodo was served Thursday with a lawsuit from the Bridgemill subdivision’s homeowners association, said his next-door-neighbor and attorney, J. Daran Burns of Canton.

Flags can fly in the subdivision, but the homeowners association insists they be on poles attached to the houses, Burns said.

Tripodo spent $900 installing the flag pole outside his Canton home, complete with landscaping and lighting.

“He believes that’s the appropriate way to display the flag,” Burns said.

Tripodo also believes he has that right under the Freedom to Display the American Flag Act signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2005, Burns said.

The homeowners association suggested as an alternative that Tripodo put the flagpole in his back yard, the attorney said.

“I found that to be completely unreasonable … a joke,” Burns said.

He said the homeowners association has not gotten any complaints from neighbors.

    Remainder of Story

If you choose to live in a HOA you must follow the rules. Then every person that lives in that Sub can fly a flag from their Nation

I lived in a HOA ONCE!! Never again I want space and put up what I want when I want Period. This happened 10 years ago in Fla and the homeowner was forced to sale his home, I agree we should fly our nations flag, however if your in a HOA you have to follow the rules

  8. I've been a Realtor for a decade now. Obviously with today's market, things are not so great in my career.

I decided I would go back to school to learn a trade that is not contingent on the housing market.

Of course at my age I was one of the oldest people in the class. Hell I'm even older than the teacher!

I have studied my butt off and was still stressing about the final exam.

Well, I took the final last night and I made a 96! :D

    Yippeeeeeeeeee :yahoo:

Just proof I guess that you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Okay, brag fest over, carry on. :D

Congrats remember your never too old!

  11. I quit 5 years ago, cold turkey. It was hard, but life without smoking is like being free. It is just hard to explain the feeling.

Did you gain weight? I am thinking I will workout more cuz I will be able to breath better

  12. Good luck. I'm giving up people. The cost is equally as high. Seriously, best wishes. I remember both my mom and grandfather quitting--it was not an easy thing to do, but it is worth it!

Ty I will be a bear but shelling out that kind of money is insane

  15. There are only 3 venomous snakes you have to watch for in Paulding County. If you can learn to recognize a copperhead, a rattlesnake and a cottonmouth then you are in good shape, the rest are non-venomous.

    Oh you forgot water moccosin's

  17. But employees arrive much earlier, and many times they are attacked as they are opening the doors to go in.

I think it has been confirmed that there was a robbery.

I Just came from the branch in Kennesaw and they stated that it was robbed. The robber was hid in the bushes as the manager was opening at 7:30am

  18. I thought they still made money off of you even if you pay the balance off each money..BECAUSE..Everytime you use it..The store pays the credit card people...

Yes the retailers pay 3 to 5 percent to except credit cards for transactions so with that said I too have a capital one card and no balance paid off every month

I will not close the account because that hurts your credit score but I froze mine today and will not use it every month now so they can't earn the 3 to 5 percent from the retailers. I hope they belly up!
