  1. Someone can get the ball rolling with this information:

INSTRUCTIONS ON FILING COMPLAINT WITH THE MARSHALL'S OFFICE: http://www.paulding.gov/DocumentCenter/View/95

PUT THIS IN THE GRAY BOX ALONG WITH A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE HAZARDS/CONDITIONS:

2003 Zoning Ordinance of Paulding County as amended (see page 29)

Article 6. Sec. D. REMOVAL OF DESTROYED BUILDINGS.

Any dwelling which is damaged beyond repair by fire, natural or manmade disaster shall be removed and disposed of in accordance with provisions of the Standard Unsafe Building Abatement Code as adopted by the State of Georgia. http://www.paulding.gov/DocumentCenter/View/525

  2. Good idea!

My son's high school band program says they are going to arrange for professional pictures this school year. Finally!! We've always wanted good ones in the marching uniform and another in the concert tux with each instrument he plays. Naturally, it will be a fund raiser. In the past they only offered pictures to seniors. (!?!) If it isn't worked out soon I will be looking for a private studio.

  3. These kids are supposed to be teenagers forever. I don't want to see them move on to grown up issues. There is always another generation of kids coming up who can relate to the characters. The characters shouldn't age with us.

Sales must be sagging in the comic business and this little controversy will stir things up. I always liked the Archie Comics and have subscribed for my kids in the last few years. My son even drew a picture of Archie a few years back and it was published in an issue. They sent me my regular issue and another sealed in plastic which I will save for him.

  4. We usually only see them when we've cleaned the gutters. They like to live in the wet pinestraw that builds up. Thankfully, we have a very dry basement so they don't tend to come in there.

  5. If you ever grew corn than you would know that when you shuck corn it will dry out quicker and the grains get harder . So if you don't care if the corn is tender or tough I guess it wouldn't matter to some people.

You've got some really strong feelings about shucking your corn! ;)

  6. :o  Hate to say it but why does this not surprise me? This is what happens when you aren't in a military community..No support! Sorry it happend to you.

To the Aunt of Ryan: I am very sorry that you had to endure your neighbor's rudeness.

To Dallas Red: I find your comments rude. You seem to have a chip on your shoulder (based on the tone of many of your posts) and seem bitter that you are stuck here in Paulding County. Why did you have to take this topic and make it about yourself? Of course a military community which would include base housing is going to seem more supportive...every person there is there for the same reason. Paulding County residents have been very supportive, caring, and loving toward Ryan's family and we each feel the pain of his loss.

  7. Even worse than that for me ... the "bullseye" store has about 15,000 registers and never has more than 3-4 of them open. WTH is that about?

How about when a cashier opens a register and just yells "I'm open" and the rude people who just walked up jump in? They should ask the next person waiting in line. I blame this mostly on the store for not training the cashier.

  8. Okay so my boyfriend kicked me and my son out about a week ago..I moved in with my parents and now they've kicked us out as well and won't watch him anymore or pay for his daycare. I am a single mom and have to work to provide. Does anyone know of a real cheap place to live with no deposit necessary or somewhere warm and safe that would put a roof over my son and my head. I've tried all my friends and no one will/can help. Please...anyone. My son's at his dads this weekend but will be home sunday night and I have to find somewhere between now and then for us to live. Anyone? and daycare/childcare?

    "Hardship Veterans Outreach

Are you a veteran who is suffering from financial distress or struggling with your VA copays? Have you lost your job, or currently face significant decrease in your household income?

Let Us Know - VA Has Programs That Can Help You

Veterans Who Are Not Currently Enrolled

VA’s Medical Care Hardship program could help veterans qualify for VA enrollment for health care services if they had a recent change in their income, even if they were previously denied enrollment based on their household income. Veterans who have put off applying for VA enrollment because they thought their income was too high may want to reconsider applying if their projected current year’s income is lower. Hardship may be approved if the veteran’s current year income is substantially reduced from the prior year. Personal circumstances such as loss of employment, sudden decrease in income or increases in out-of-pocket veteran or family health care expenses factor into VA’s hardship determination."

  10. CYB, I'm glad your son was safe and didn't have to use that gun. I'm sure glad he knew how to use it though. It sounds as if he was very thoughtful in his actions. I hope the guys that were arrested get to hear that someone was waiting for them in a house with a loaded shotgun and that by the grace of God they were spared.

  11. What is you opinion on REFI's...

Should I just add the closing costs to the new amount I'm refinancing or just go ahead and write the check for it. Also since I am closing at the end of the Month..I won't have a payment till May 1st..But DH wants me to write a check at the closing for our old Mortgage amount and have it all put on the principle..

What are your thoughts on this?

If you did one REFI'd recently what did you do?

    Thanks!!

I'm leaning towards adding closing costs to Mortgage amount and paying the same amount for closing, only adding it to the principle.

Hmmm...no replies all afternoon. Well, I'll throw out my 2 cents...it depends on what your cash position is right now. I know you are trying to sell your home based on previous posts. Will it sell for more than the refinanced amount? I have to ask because these days some people are upside down in mortgage/value. I personally would hold on to the cash and roll in the closing costs and also keep the cash from not having that April payment. You are tying up a lot of cash by laying it out now and hoping to get it back upon the sale of your home. If you planned to stay in it a long time then I could see trying to pay down the principal more quickly than the actual life of the loan.

Here's a link to an article that offers some reasonable explanation. I learned something from it.

"On Thursday, for example, crude oil closed just under $34 a barrel, its lowest point for 2009. But the national average price of a gallon of gas rose to $1.95 on the same day, its peak for the year. On Friday gas went a penny higher....

The benchmark for crude oil prices is West Texas Intermediate, drilled exactly where you would imagine. That's the price, set at the New York Mercantile Exchange, that you see quoted on business channels and in the morning paper....

But it is the overseas crude that goes into most of the gas made in the United States. So prices at the pump will probably keep going up no matter what happens to the benchmark price of crude oil."

Click on the link and read more.

  13. It will be re-aired tonight on one of the C-SPAN channels at 8 p.m. I'm recording it because I want to see that "man your ship" part and have the kids watch it, too My BIL was part of the commissioning of the USS Cole years ago. I didn't go to the ceremony then and have always regretted it.

  14. Was just talking mortgage rates in another thread, too. When you are shopping around for a re-fi be sure to ask that Good Faith Estimates be prepared and faxed/e-mailed to you. These will give you the numbers you need to compare apples to apples.

  15. I'm curious...what kind of loan terms have y'all come across in your searching? I've got a 30 year fixed rate loan with about 25 years left at 5.5% I called the other day about refinancing but there wasnt' a big enough difference in % to make it worth the headache. It would be cheaper just to continue paying additional principal, which I do. If I can get a 15 or 20 year at 4.5%, it might be worthwhile. Origination fees? Closing costs?
