Tell me more...How many hours did you have to devote and if you could explain the "structured" thing.
Where does your daughter go to school?
pm'd ya
-
we are considering it also.... our 8th grade daughter only wants to go to school to socialize.
and her grades reflect it.....then she does an extra credit project and has a "b" again
what is she learning????? and the extra credit projects are not [imo] quality work

wanted to update everyone....received several pm's asking how he is.
so yesterday was a bit rough....we finally got a diagnosis....gastroperesis.
he's gained 4 lbs back so he's improving.
doc said if my son can drink his calories she'll consider taking out his feeding tube.
drink 2,000 calories that's a lot of drinking..... he has to drink the boost plus 360 calories per can.
he's still struggling with solids , but can occasionally hold down food [mostly junk...muffins , biscuits, small amounts of dry cereal]
right now he gets anything he wants gotta find some things he can keep in his system.
thank-you for all your prayers and positive thoughts.

Ok, I took my son to get his learner's permit. He passed, by the way, YIPPPEEE!! Anyway, we went to the one in Cedartown because they are never very busy. While we were there they had about 7 people come in. 4-5 of them were teenagers to take the test. 3 of those teenagers had to have the test read to them. WTH!!!??? I didn't even know that was an option. Is it just me or does that seem weird? I feel like if they can't read the test how are they going to read the signs and stuff? Mind you we were there less than an hour and saw 3. How many teenagers can't read? That is amazing to me. Then there was an Asian man who had his 12-13 year old daughter translating for him so he could get his license and one Latino woman who had to take the test and could not speak English. She had someone with her to talk to the people at the counter but she took the test by herself which tells me that it must be available in different languages.
I was overwhelmed at the whole thing, but happy that my baby read the test by himself and passed! He should get extra credit for being able to speak English and read!
he's on the road huh?
tell him i said congrads!
hope he's better then my daughter.....1 month after getting her license she hits my surburban with my van.....
mind you the surburban was parked in the driveway..... and she didn't stop the van and back up she kept going
i refuse to ride with her.....she still scares me. beware of the white van!!!!!! it's coming to a street corner near you!
fishnthec----- you know how this education thing works.....i know you do;]

Ok, so I have this problem. Me and Goldngrl and my boys all go to get something to eat. We get back and come in the house, which at first, feels warm because it's like freakin sub-zero outside. Well after being inside for a few, we all realize, it ain't all that warm. I go to kick on the heat.......COLD AIR!!! I mean, it is cold like the AC is turned on. I fiddle w/ the thermostat and nothing. So, we decide that a fire would be a good thing. I don't have natural gas lines, we have a gas starter on our fireplace and it is hooked to a small propane tank. Well, I'm leary of lighting the stupid thing anyway cuz I'm afraid I'm gonna burn my house down or something. I finally get up the courage, NO GAS!! I have no firelogs, no kindling, just a lighter and some wood and thankfully an old phone book! JEEZ.
Well, on any other given day, I would just ask Tow to fix it, he's a guy, it's his job. But wouldn't you know, he's not home! And he is unreachable by phone.
FINALLY the fire starts going, after 2-3 times of going out. Then brilliant me goes down stairs and checks the fuse box, and all it was was a tripped breaker.
So, I have built a huge fire AND fixed my heater all without the help of any man! HOORAH!!
way to go

that is truly an amazing story the power of a mother is a great thing
my son has just drawn up a contract of all the things he [gets] wants when he recovers
i've got to sign it with two witnesses
garlic broccoli , a doughnut from dunkin doughnuts , sausage , and my flakey biscuits
got to love him.....
-
thank-you everyone for your prayers and well wishes.
lets see if i can remember what all they tested him for.......
first they thought it was a parasite...started treating him tested.....neg.
next they thought he was impacted [due to xrays] gi doc said no on the 22nd
he's had cat scan[because he has headaches] , bloodtest....to check for elevated numbers that would indicate cancers,
rechecked for the parasite , barium test.....4 and a half hours and then back for a test that evening[think that was the upper/lower gi ], there was also the scope they ran down his throat looking for any ulcers of abnormalities [byoposys taken tested clear], doc said they ruled out allergies.
hope i'm not leaving out anything.....so much happened in the 5 days he was in the hospital.
he's never lost his appetite even to the point of sneaking food and paying for it later.....guess you'll do anything when your starving.
crohns , never heard them talk about this.....i'm gonna call first thing mon. to find out if they can test for the things people have offered up. i'm certainly feeling over whelmed and welcome the thoughts from our pcom family.
thanks again to you all

You are a great mom! And whatever you need to do, you do it. You know your child better than the doctors or nurses ever will, so don't be afraid to question anything that concerns you. (It took them a good while to find the MSG allergy; his mom now has to make everything he eats or drinks. He can have nothing store-bought. MSG is a terrible thing to be allergic to - it gives me headaches, but some people cannot tolerate it at all.)
gonna ask them again about allergies.....msg especially .
i do try my best thank-you
yhea the nurses weren't ready for me......i had more questions then they had answers

Momaliz, I'm so sorry to hear this! Also, sorry I didn't get a chance to speak to you very much at the meeting or after. I'll help Smoochie hold you up at the meetings anytime - we are here for you, and our prayers are with you.
This may be a shot in the dark, but a little one at our church had something similar and he was allergic to MSG. He would throw up everything because MSG is in just about everything you can buy. Once they determined this, and got it eliminated it from his diet, he is now doing very well.
thanks lady.....i've asked to docs if it could be he's allergic to something....he's always struggled with cows milk.
they said they've rulled that out.....because he continued to throw up in the hospital on the formula.
what do i know i'm just a mother
and can be quite a mother ask some of the nurses up at the hospital
I am so sorry! I hope he gets better really soon! I know that there is nothing worse than having a child that is sick. Even when it's just a cold but, what you are dealing with is terrible. The not knowing what the problem is I am sure is very hard for you! I hope the docs figure it out and are able to make him better! If you need anything feel free to pm me!what a sweet offer....don't be surprised if you get a pm from me one day.
your right ! just give me a name so i know what he up against .
i hate to see him so sick.....i've got 4 kids and must say we've been blessed.
just need to get a handle on this.

thank-you all so much
i wanted to keep this off the board because several people know who i am and wanted to keep his business private.
but i'm hoping someone on here may have some answers.
tonight he started throwing up and his stomach was as hard as a rock , when this happens i'm suppose to stop the feeding give it 1 hour try again. if he gets sick again then we head back to the hospital.
feeling the strain tonight needed ya'lls
pcom love
during this time i've even lost a couple of friends....they claimed my son was making them sick.....
what he has no one can catch , guess they weren't my friends after all!
-
ok so here goes
my son [12 yrs. old ] hasn't been able to hold down food since 2-5 08. lost 15 lbs. spent 5 days in the hospital....
had many test , all the docs can do in this part of the country. and all is normal....well almost normal he still can't eat.
every time he tries he gets sick. it breaks my heart .... he begs God to just end this....and fix him.
4 feedings during the day and an all night feed. i'm exhausted . physically, emotionaly....in everyway
we go back to the doc. 3-19 and they have him out of school till 4-14 [homebound schooling being set up]
so guess i'm posting this to see if anyone else has been through this , know someone who's dealt with it?
anyone?

Your best bet would just be to go to EB and buy a new/used one if noone here will give you one. And you'd have to drive to kennesaw to get a used one at Gaming concepts.
thanks totally forgot about eb games.....my son loves that place
-
ok my son is being very patient with us .
when we were leaving scottish rite sat. it must of dropped out of our bags.
it the charger you plug into the wall.
car charger doesn't do much good when he's stuck in the hospital.
walmart sells a few options....car charger , battery charger [can't play it while it's charging]
anyone got one they want to part with cheap?
better yet free  ?
thank-you

one of my children has been sick since the beginning of feb. and we've just spent
5 days in the hospital and my dad chews me out everytime i call to give them an update.
my priority is my son..... my dad needs to grow up and be a man.
don't let it bother you too much your health and family shouldn't be effected by your childish uncle;]

he is not diabetic ..... not sure what has caused this.
he's always struggled with a sick stomach
some teachers in the past expected he'd get sick 1-2 times a week
he was allowed to lay in the back of the class and do his work
i thought it was a nervous stomach
[never in a million years] bad mom award goes to
drum role ........momaliz;[
but the end of jan. begining of feb. when he could only hold down water/ propel
doc agreed with us something was going on.
over a month later they've run the test and have a name......
still i struggle with the fact my son can't eat.
he was a 10 lb 4 oz baby at birth [so he was tested for diabetes several times a day]
heal pricking and blood test..... he's my big boy.
and so brave.
and hungry
thanks again to everyone
soapmom i've been to that sight , it did help me to read it.
