Sign out front says Closed. Is the temporarily or forever??

If we are going to a kiosk system, then the these so called "kiosks" need to be up and running before they make a total ban on signs. And yes, I think the new ordinance was "adopted" in May, but apparently they haven't notified enough people to make it clear as to what is and isn't allowed and now that they are threatening to fine starting on Oct. 1, people are starting to raise questions.

There are so many good points being brought up during this discussion. 1. Pubby should do a story on this after the Chamber meeting at noon today, maybe we can have some questions answered. 2. I think it is unfair to ban all signs totally. Exceptions SHOULD and NEED to be made. If it means to buy a permit- so be it. 3. Now is not really the time to pick on builders. They are already struggling, so why can't we allow subdivision signs for the few people who do have subdivisions left. If we are trying to stimulate our economy, part of that would be bringing people to our county, and

I could not agree with you more. I guess those people are the ones who have ruined it for the rest of us. There are so many of those types of signs that those who have actually paid to have a sign created are punished too. I think those should be prohibited, but do not think "all signs no matter what" is fair.

But even Douglas County allows some advertising (yard sales, etc.) with a permit. Obviously there are tons of other ways to advertise a business, but if people can't find it once they hear about it, how will it get customers? Also, I agree the roadways need cleaning up, but if a sign is tasteful and not on the right of way, and is paid for and erected with a permit, it should not be an eyesore and does not take away from the beauty of the county.

I agree they are creating a mess. They are discouraging people from advertising their businesses and trying to seemingly turn Paulding into a "billboard" community by allowing only billboards to be off premise advertsiing. Therefore, all of Paulding's businesses will be funneling their money into a billboard company instead of to the county itself. I'm not sure how that will "beautify" the county by only allowing horrible giant billboards for any off premise advertising...

Yes, that is what I am hearing. There is a meeting tomorrow at the Chamber of Commerce and I guarantee there will be some heated debating! In an economy like this, why would you take business away from Paulding county. When people can't find the businesses or subdivisions that do not sit right off the roadway, they will go elsewhere. Also, if business owners cannot advertise their businesses in a fairly inexpensive manner, they will take their businesses elsewhere, futher contributing to a downfall of this county. I can understand cleaning up the "trashy", unkempt signs on the roadways, bu

Really? That's crazy! Was it a manufactured sign or one of the big permanent signs?
-
Thanks. I wonder if this is current because I read a completely different ordinance which was posted on the Paulding County website under the planning and zoning. I'm so confused.
-
THat really only addresses the yard sale signs. Does anyone from the county know about the one going into affect Oct. 1 that pertains to permanent signs?
