I carpool with 7 different families. Once, I picked up a little boy who smelled like he had his feet up an elephant's butt for a couple of weeks. I made him hang his feet out the window while the rest of us tried not to gag. Of course one sandal flew off the child's foot and he went into panic mode. I smiled and told him to kick off the other one. When he got out of the car I gave him a $5 bill and told him to buy himself some socks.
That evening his mom called and was fuming about the loss of the shoes. I told her she should be grateful her elephant butt boy didn't bring them home and that she could either teach her kid to bathe or she could start picking him up.
Now you know why you might see a boy's sandal on Cedarcrest and one on 41.

ya'll are truly bored, i recently had a wreck on my harley on harmony grove church rd. i was taken to paulding memorial in and ambulance, the next day i discovered that i had only one shoe when they put me in the ambulance, so if you see a biege timberland boot in that area its mine ............also there were a few cars who stopped to help me, to them i would like to say thank you, especially the guy who gave me the coca cola, thanks i needed that,

I think it was Gem man that stated it was a very old voting district polling place.
Seems like a important historical building...
I noticed some work around it before I went to AZ and then POOF! it's gone when I get back.
Anybody know where it went? It looks like it was moved rather than torn down.
I'm hoping it was saved somehow. We're losing too much of our history here already.
In other ponderings, I wonder what's gonna happen on that corner now... a new subdivision or a store?

I am not putting money into a business OWNED by someone who willingly chose to drink and drive. And I want to stop others from doing so as well. We are not talking about a corporation where 25 owners are in charge and only one broke the law. We are talking about an individual who owns a smaller business. There are 100's of jobs in food service in this and surrounding areas. The employees can find employment elsewhere. And probably be better off than working with someone who is so reckless when it comes to the lives of others.

Well, actually, to a certain degree you CAN blame the bar - more specifically the bartender and/or servers who serve someone enough for them to get drunk.
I used to work in the food/beverage business. I also used to bartend. You become VERY observant as to how much you've served someone and how much they've had, and you know how much is legal. You need to cut someone off when they've had too much since the average drunk is too damn stupid to have enough common sense to cut themselves off. Now if it's the type of place where servers order the drinks and take them to the tables, then it's up to the servers to be able to recognize when Joe Blow has had too much, and contact management to cut someone off - actually, before it gets to the "I can really tell he's drunk" stage. Legally, yes, cases have been won by those harmed by drunk drivers against establishments if it can be shown that they knew the person had numerous drinks and didn't cut them off. It's not always super easy to prove, so it's not cut and dry, but there ARE cases where witnesses will say they say "so and so" sloppy drunk in the place. In that case, yes, the place will get into trouble as the law will assume that if witnesses saw the guy intoxicated inside the place, the employees were aware of it, too.

.....popo bar, pork, the plot thickens my friends................................................I posted this in the internet cafe without realizing it was here, but I'll copy/paste it as it has SOME items not in this thread. Some of the info may be updated in comments afterward:---
Without going into names, it has come to my attention that the owner of a BBQ place was arrested very late on Saturday night (early pre-morning Sunday) for DUI. This guy left a bar in North Paulding County (Braswell Mt. area and North 61), and was traveling on Braswell Mt. Road toward North 61 (Cartersville Hwy come call it), where he proceeded to not hit, but drive THROUGH the old gas station building (currently rented out to a hair salon) right next to the end of Braswell Mt Road, on 61. He was driving a Ford pickup with a license tag that said, "Eat at XXX BBQ (name withheld)", and the tag with this bumper sticker fell off and was inside the building.
After driving THROUGH the building, causing one side of it to collapse, he continued to drive back onto the road, where his truck finally died down the road. He called a wrecker service, who drover by the damager and put 2+2 together, realized he had done it once they saw his truck, and called the cops. He was arrested at that time, and supposedly got out of jail (bond) yesterday.
Coworkers (who hang out on this board) went down to help the owners of the salon (who rent this building) remove their business items as they know them, on Sunday. The 1930s era building according to the insurance company has to be torn down due to so much damage. The salon owners may wind up going out of business due to damage of some of their items and the amount of time it would take to get back to work. One of the owners of the business confirmed with the police that the driver of the truck is the owner of a BBQ restaurant, and HAD been drinking - since we haven't been able to find the exact location of the BBQ restaurant I'm not posting the name of it, as I'm not sure it's in Paulding specifically but am pretty sure they're not an advertiser on here or anything. Again, he hit this building so hard his dealer emblem and restaurant logo sticker came off and were in the building (yet he continued to drive after going through the building).
Thankfully, no one was in this guy's way at the time, even though earlier that night my coworkers teens were on that very road going past that very spot. It's amazing how a bar could serve someone to the point of getting that blatantly drunk and allow them to drive (or serve them that much to begin with). It's even more amazing that no one got in his way and was killed - anyone sloshed enough to drive through a building and continue driving could just as easily drove through a few cars along the way.

I'll comment on "judging": Apparently cops already knew this guy had been drinking. If as earlier posts indicate he was 18, then on TOP of everything, underage drinking applies. Regardless of if it's 18 or 80, a comment was made that "no sane person would drive through a building" earlier by someone. Uh... hello... since when are drunks SANE?? If it was a medical condition, you don't drive through a building then stop down the road and take the time to call a wrecker service. I highly doubt an 18 year old owns a restaurant as well, so it could well be a case of a child of the owner who was using the owner's truck, perhaps? - THOSE are details to be found out/discovered later.
