  1.

I have a patient in Hiram that was affected by the flood. He is wheel chair bound and cannot do anything to help himself. He has a limited support group. He is in need of housing in which he can get his wheelchair in and out of.

It may be a few weeks before he will see any money from FEMA. Honestly I would not be surprised if they condemn the house and bull doze it over. He cannot afford to pay mortgage and house rent. I am going to set up a collection for him at California Ball Park Concession. If you can donate a few dollars please drop it by the park Monday, Tuesday or Thursday between 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM or by New Seasons Church.

He is staying with a neighbor for the night but cant stay long due to he cant access their bathroom and they really don't have room there.

I spent 2 hours at the shelter today trying to get more info from Red Cross. They wanted me to send him to the Cobb County Civic Center shelter. Based on my observation this is not really feasible as he needs handicapped supplies and bathroom. He has medical issues. Keep your eyes open for rentals that are 1 level or could have a ramp built easily.

He is also in need of clothes. He wears a size 3x in shirts and 54 waist in pants. He really needs underwear and large socks. I think his shoes are like a 15 or 16. He also needs towels and wash clothes. When he locates a place to stay he will need furniture as we threw away everything but the hospital bed. If folks would like to donate a few dollars I would gladly go seek them out. I know times are tough for all of us but maybe if a bunch can give a few we can conquer this task.

My brother who was also affected by the floods in Austell is looking for a washer and dryer. Let me know if you see any deals.

I went down Clay Road and Perkins Mill Road in Austell today. It is traumatic to see. Mud in the trees probably 15 - 20 feet up from the ground level. Houses with water lines up to the roof! Whole neighborhoods with all their belongings and sheet rock sitting on the side of the roads. It really makes you realize that your troubles are nothing. Thank God for our little trials and tribulations.

I would like to donate a few dollars but I can't get out to your ballfield we have a game everynight this week at Burnt Hickory. Where can I drop off during the day?

  2. Thinking about doing an old chicken recipe - throw a couple of bonesless breasts into the slow cooker with some cream cheese and Italian seasoning (too late for the slow cooker, but not too late to do it long and slow on the stove - hubby won't be home for a little while). By that time it should be good, tender and savory, and then just do some rice and maybe some broccoli.

    Whatcha think?

Encouragement here, I'm looking for encouragement.

YUM that sounds great! I may try that recipe tomorrow!
