If they are BLACK (and your sure it is a true black not brown) --- then I would say it is 99% chance it is a king snake. There are no poisonous BLACK snakes in Georgia except for the Coral which you won't find around here (normally). (Although the water moccasin is kind of black, but it's not a bright black - which the king snakes usually are...and....the water moccasin just LOOKS like a mean poisonous snake....or like a stick you would see in the water....(has a white mouth....which...I wouldn't want to get close enough to find out about....)
The Coral though is so colorful --- you would know immediately that something was up with it....You would probably think it was not even real....
Then there is the Coral snake 'saying' for identifying....
"Red touching black - okay for Jack"
"Red touching yellow - will kill a fellow..."
BTW....wondering why I keep reading these snake posts because now I'm afraid the dog or the cats are going to run across one.....
I have a theory, perhaps it has something to do with our recent drought. Perhaps the snakes moved into territory that was once wet, dried up during the drought and now that the rain has returned they are moving out of the newly swamped areas.

The Judges have this one right on............Adam is going to a huge rock hit!!!! And, I honestly believe AI might just break their own rules and allow him to win. The finale should prove to be interesting!!!
Haven't they done that already? I mean, how many times does he get to close the show? Other than rock week (when he was first and last - albeit in his duet with Alison), has he gone in the dreaded 1st slot? Seems like Idol is going overboard to assure he wins.

No that set of storms is NOT coming to our neck of the woods. It should head east through the Ohio Valley - Louisville, Cincinnati, Lexington and Charleston, West Virginia. The southern end may get to Nashville and Knoxville.
Other thunderstorms may develop in our area this afternoon and evening, but they will not be from the same system that brought the damaging winds to Kansas and Missouri.
Cuteyellowbug - glad your parents are fine this was an incredible system producing winds over 90 mph.

Oh Dang where is TBAR LOL
so your pet played with the snake ?
I don't think he was playing with it, I think he was trying to kill it - he was in full protection mode according to my wife. I jokingly call it his new chew toy.

Poor snakie. King snakes are good. Was it dead?
What a fearless little dog. He was just doing his job. Good boy, he doesn't know the difference between dangerous snakes and helpful ones.
Fortunately the snake was alive last night when we went to check on it. It had buried itself in some of our pinestraw at the back of our yard and was moving. Hopefully it recovers because it is a good snake.
Yes, the Rocket was doing his job! He didn't fling the snake until my wife went to see why he was barking to wildly and got close to the snake.

My wife called me at work yesterday to tell me that our dog was playing with a snake and she was frightened. Our dog is a Jack Russel/Rat Terrier mix and I think he was trying to protect my wife. The dog was flinging the snake around the yard and repeatedly "threw" the snake against the steps to our porch.
A neighbor came over and moved the poor snake out of our dog's roaming area. So when I got home I saw that it was a king snake, poor thing. Picture below...

I voted $3 and it will happen when the first hurricane of the season is named. Even if the thing doesn't head for the Gulf of Mexico the price will spike out of fear.

Part of the confusion may be that some counties (Cobb for sure) blow the sirens if the area is under a tornado watch and a severe thunderstorm warning is issued. The reason is that any severe thunderstorm could produce a tornado.
However, a warning is worse than a watch. A warning means that a tornado has been spotted on the ground, or there is very good evidence on radar that one may form, or is forming.

Sorry, but Adam's performance last night was way, way, way over the top. To me it was his 2nd worst of the season - he absolutely destroyed "Ring Of Fire". I have to agree with Simon, half the people will love what he did last night and the other half will hate it.
I personally like Danny and his story, but I agree Adam is better. However, I am more likely to by a Danny record than an Adam record.
Also, if it comes down to Adam and Danny (probably won't, but not sure which one will go first), there will be way more sympathy for Danny than Adam and that could push him to "surprise" victory.
Anyone else think the judges will only use their "save" for Adam, Allison or Danny? Is anyone else deserving?

That was just round 1. We could all be in for a late night tonight with another round of severe thunderstorms possible tonight. Worst weather may be in the region between 9pm and 2am, so heads up!

We missed ours on Saturday and Sunday's was very late...

Who said you had to be 8 to laugh at that. I'm 40 and have been bustin' a gut! I'm sure my 10 and 9 year old boys will drive their mother crazy.
Yup its a boy thing!

The weather has been absolute beautiful...chilly mornings and warm afternoons, just the way wifey and I like it. Too bad we are in the drought, we could use some rain. However, I would hate to ruin the run of great weather we have had since early September!

wow.. and while Bush is still in office.
Actually they are assuming an Obama win and trying to downsize before the taxes skyrocket.

And it is all owned by the gov't and their banks!

They prolly can't catch the 278 speeders yet. Need some more training.

Ok, this is unnerving to read all these copperhead reports. Which part of the county are you all in? I live not far from Taylor Farm Park and do not want to run into one of these things! More importantly now that it is summer my kids are living outside. Obviously I do not one of them near one!

Personally I cannot stand him and am waiting for the day someone puts him in/through the fence.
However, NASCAR needs him right now. The whole sport had gotten boring, he at least adds some flavor to the recent bland racing.
Admit it, y'all are waiting for Jr., or someone else to punt him through the safer barrier!

Heard on WSB that they recommend you put your flashers on and slow down to indicated to the officer that you see them and are looking for a safe place to pull over.
Hope that helps

From Allentown, PA, but vacationed in Ocean City every summer growing up. I miss the boardwalk and Spadafora's clam chowder!

Yes the flag issue was a significant one, however, you may be fooling yourself if you think his betrayal of the teachers had "little to do" with his loss. Every teacher I talked to (well over 50 of them) voted for Sonny not for the flag issue, but for Barnes' betrayal.
