  1. Great yall, thanks so much.

Yep I got the iron skillet, Yep I have tried all the mixes mentioned but non are just like moms was, close in coms cases however. I currently have couple of the Aunt J's mixes mention above, and have used some in the past also.

I have also used the mexican masa cornmeal as well. Right now I have quaker cornmeal to use.

All of these items mentioned, mixes that is, can be obtained here, but are very pricey, but when you gotta have it, you pay the price, and so I do.

One thing that hit me while reading the post is I havent been using buttermild, only used regular whole white milk. I am not sure if I can even get buttermilk here, but will begin my search for it tomorrow and try that in the recipe I have, and I will be comparing recipes above to mine.

Yall have been great..... as usual! Thanks again.

You can make buttermilk with milk and white vinegar. One cup milk and one half tablespoon vinegar. Let it set for about 10 minutes and you will have buttermilk.

  2. Ive known coach Dorsey since he was just a 10 Year old Tee boy at MHS. He was a good kid and he is even a better man now. His Mother and Father are great supporters of him and are good people. Hiram may nit win a championship every year but Andy is a great catch for any school. Hats off Coach

There is more to winning than just football games. Sounds like Coach Dorsey has exactly what it takes to produce a championship team whether they win even one football game or not.

  3. I don't know the name of it, but on Hwy 92 between Dallas Acworth Hwy and Hwy 41 there is a sign at a daycare - they are hiring. Going from DA Hwy to 41 it is located on the right side of 92, closer to Dallas Acworth end. I saw the sign yesterday.

  4. Saute whole okra in a pan with a little butter until they are softened and start to brown. Yummy

My mom's specialty is cutting them up thin (less than 1/4"), covering with corn meal and shallow frying. They come out nice and crispy, not soggy like traditional fried okra.

My mom does okra that way as well and it is delicious!

  5. So are you a POST cert. officer? If so try Cherokee Co. I am pretty sure that Douglasville isn't hiring, and neither is Douglas co. right now. The APD was hiring, if you want to get stuck working zone 1 or 3 on the night shift.

My husband delivers for a courier. They are not hiring, but he said to try Executive Courier - off Delk Road in Marietta, GA. His friend just got hired there.

I have done the newspaper thing and if you can stay away from it, do. You have to be up in the middle of the night to deliver and the pay is not good.

  6. There is a house on Lost Meadows Drive, (Lost Meadows S/D) for rent - 3 bedroom, 2 bath, $895.00/mo. It has just been renovated by a realty company. They put in new cabinets, carpet, appliances and I think, even new fixtures in the bathrooms. It is the fist house on the right when you go in s/d. It has a two car garage and a fenced in back yard. Newly painted as well. Lost Meadows is the last s/d on the right before you get to the red light at Mt Tabor Road, after you pass EPHS on the left. The first house on the left is also for rent and on down the road towards the cul-de-sac there is another house for rent. Don't know the condition or prices on those.

  7. David and Heather - I am so sorry. I know your mom will be greatly missed. She was so warm and such a great person to be around. Her faith was amazing! Please know that we are praying for you and your family. If there is anything we can do, please let us know.

    We send our love -

Paul Lunsford and his Mom, Debi

  8. Three cheers for you C. Mark Willix - (hope I spelled it right) I am so glad you found out details and tried to set things right. Even without knowing the circumstances, I have complete sympathy for McFarlaine's. The flood caused so much heartache and devastation for so many people. I feel like each and everyone of us who escaped without serious damage and loss of life should be grateful and try to be understanding of all who were affected. I had a real eye opener over the weekend. My husband lived in Austell on Robin Road as a child. He has a cousin who stills live on Robin Road. He hardly ever sees her and was concerned about her safety. So we visited and of course, her house is destroyed along with almost every single house on that street. She was no where to be found. We hope she is safe with family somewhere.

When I saw what happened it really made my problems take on a new perspective. I have nothing to worry about compared to what those people are facing. I for one will be praying for each and everyone affected!

  9. Denise,

You amaze me! This has to be one of the hardest days for you and yet you find the words to comfort everyone else.

You have such a warm and giving heart. I have kept up with your trials and never have I felt such warmth and caring from an individual before. Even though we haven't met I feel like I know you. You, Phillip and Ashton have been such an inspiration to me.

There are no words I can say to help ease your grief and pain. Just know that there are hundreds of people ready to help in any way we can.

I am praying for you all!

  10. I am drooling over that sunset!

You are so sweet to think of everyone else while you are on vacation. I don't know if I could be that kind!

Hope you are having a wonderful time!

Your pictures are so much better than mine! I did get your PM and I so appreciate that. We are going to go to Phillipi's tomorrow night to try it and then to the Lobster Pot on Saturday night.

I'm telling you lowrider, we just need to open up a t-shirt shop here on the beach and we could watch this gorgeous sunset every night of our lives!

You two open up the T-shirt shop and I will come and rent out jet skis and hang gliding!
