I was going to add that most (almost all) garages charge you 'book hours' for a job. i.e. if the book says it's a 3 hour job, you're charged 3 x $$$$. But i found a guy who charges you only the time he works on your car AND if he can't do it....he has contacts for people who are capable and fair.
It's called Hiram Masterbend on Hwy 92 across the street from the Smog place (south of the street you take to downtown Hiram). the owners nickname is PeeWee and he's a good guy. I can't think of his pohone number, but i'd strongly suggest this place for quality work, low price and he'll stand by whatever he does. He did a diagnostic on my truck for free because he was courious about a sound I was trying to describe (that's $100 right off the bat)...
