  1. My sons are singers/songwriters. They met a guy named Stan who was selling his cd's for $5 at the flea market. Somehow Stan hooked them up with a guy named Vincent (he goes by "V") that lives in Hiram. "V" hooked them up with another guy named "Sko" who is supposed to be either manager or producer. One of these guys was supposedly somehow associated with Luther Vandross. As the story goes, V & Sko called Capitol Records from V's house and had my sons "audition" for Capitol over the phone. They also "auditioned" for Disney. These guys told my sons that Disney wants to sign them immediately. My sons are 100% positive that these guys are legit but I have some serious doubt.

    I just want to know if there is anyone out there that may be familiar with these guys and may be able to help my sons realize that they are being scammed.

    Any information that you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

  2. My brother was stuck in traffic not far from Industrial Blvd North on Dallas Acworth Hwy. Traffic sat there for several minutes and my brother said he saw several deputies with weapons drawn surrounding a mobile home. He was not sure but thought it may have been at Camp Circle. I have family that lives nearby there and am concerned.

    Anyone know what's going on?

  3. In the research that I have done, I have found that it is best to control your cholesterol with diet and exercise if possible. A lot of doctors prescribe statins (such as Lipitor) to control cholesterol. If your doctor prescribes something for you, make sure that you research the side effects. My husband & I found that the side effects of Lipitor are not worth it and his cholesterol is being controlled better (and with no side effects) through diet and exercise.

  4. A couple of the things that we have found that seem to work are flaxseed and steel cut oats.

    Here is something else that will help:

    (taken from this website: http://www.mylifetime.com/lifestyle/health...ation?page=0,1)

    Expert tips to lower your cholesterol – without drugs – in less than five weeks

    (Check with your doctor before starting any diet or exercise program.)

    1. Take a brisk, 30-minute walk at least five times a week. Start reading the labels on the foods you eat.

    2. Add omega-3 fatty acids and monounsaturated fats to your diet. These include:

    * Fish oils

    * Avocados

    * Almonds

    * Olive oil (Siple prefers extra-virgin olive oil.)

    3. Increase soluble fibers in your diet. These are in foods such as:

    * Oatmeal

    * Apples

    * Pears

    * Beans

    4. Incorporate soy, flaxseed oils and plant sterols like those found in margarine.

    5. Cut back on trans fatty acids that are found in foods like:

    * Baked goods

    * Breakfast cereals

    * Crackers

    * Cookies

    6. Eat fewer saturated fats, found in foods like:

    * Whole-fat milk products

    * Eggs

    * Red meat

    * Chicken skins

    * Vegetable and tropical oils

  5. What area? And hours? Will it be every weekday?

    East Paulding area

    I am not sure of the exact hours but I am pretty sure it would be Monday through Friday.

    I will ask her the exact hours and post it when I find out.

  6. I know what you mean. I wish I could keep him but my work schedule doesn't allow right now.

    That is SOOOOOOOOO sad!! :angry: I LOVE children, mine are 10 & 12 yrs old. no more babies.... Too bad I live in Rome, cause I am unemployed right now I would keep this lil guy and show him tons of love and attention... Shoot I might would even pay her to let me keep him :p Good luck finding a loving and caring sitter

  7. There is a friend of mine that needs a babysitter for a 5 month old. She has been told that her current babysitter just kind of ignores the baby and this is very upsetting to my friend. She can not afford a whole lot of money but does want to find someone who will actually take care of her child instead of ignoring him. Please help!

  8. Hehe.... you said "general assy"......hehe

    No. A business license in your home county or city allows you to work anywhere in the state.

    Used to you had to have a business license everywhere you went, the general assy changed that some years ago.

  9. We got a check in the mail from Global Financing / Continental Brokers. They said we had been chosen in a Customer Compensation & Appreciation Bonanza. There was a $4000 check included that was drawn on Old Hickory Credit Union in Tennessee (which is a real credit union).

    Being the skeptic that I am, I researched and found this:

    Mail Scam

    Please read and make sure that you or anyone you know does not fall victim to this scam. In this economy, you would not believe how many people there are that would do exactly what the letter says and then get left holding the bag.

    Here is an exact copy of the letter that I received:

    Global Financing Award Letter

  10. My sister asked me to look up this recipe for her. I have never had it but it sure sounds yummy!

    Definitely cheap and quick! It doesnt specify what size bag of tater tots so use your best judgement : )

    TATER TOT CASSEROLE

    1 can cream of mushroom soup

    1 bag tater tots

    shredded cheese

    1 lb of ground hamburger meat

    serves: 6 or 7

    Brown hamburger meat. Add cream of mushroom soup and stir together continuously.

    Let simmer on low heat for 15 minutes.

    Place mixture in the bottom of a casserole dish. Lay tater tots neatly on top of the mixture.

    Place in oven on 350' and let the tater tots brown.

    Sprinkle with cheese; melt it in the oven and ENJOY.

  11. what part of the ocunty is this in?

    I did hear where they where going to SPHS to talk to a student

    This sudbivision is off of Nebo Road near the new Ingles. I know there was a possible burglary off of Senator Road and heard that officers were going to talk to the perps girlfriend. Maybe she is at SPHS. I did wonder if the "goings-on" at Carrington Point had anything to do with it.

    I did hear a call on Swan Drive earlier (like maybe an hour and a half ago) about a 37 year old man in full arrest. The caller did CPR, and when the rescue arrived, they said they were preparing him to transport.

    I've been away from the office for awhile, so I'm not sure what transpired after that.

    Hmmm. I wonder why the caution tape is there. My brother drove through there less than 30 minutes ago and told me what he saw.

  12. These guys may be the greatest guys in the world, but everyone screws up. Everyone said that Ted Bundy and Dennis Rader (BTK) were the best people they ever met too. If serial killers can hide behind a mask of innocents then so can everyone else.

    I am not saying these guys did it, but keep an open mind. You never really know what is going on in someone's life or head. I know several guys at the SO and I am sure the situation will be handled professionally and accordingly.

    Vito-

    Looking at the whole post and knowing what I know about the situation, this is more of a 10-16 type call than an assault/robbery. When you look at it in terms of a domestic situation (the caller is Ricky's ex-girlfriend), it may be a little easier to believe because 10-16's can escalate to places that most people would never believe. I even know of a former Paulding County deputy that lost his job because of a domestic situation. I know of several more that from surrounding counties. As you said, everyone screws up.

    As it stands though, Alex has not been charged with anything. He wasn't even there when this incident occurred. Additionally, as I understand it, Ricky may be charged with simple battery because while defending himself, he accidentally scratched the "victim".

    In keeping an open mind about this, I also have to consider that maybe the female is the aggressor and maybe she is trying to manipulate the system to be on her side. Seriously, how many reports of domestic abuse have you seen where a male is the victim? Most of the time a woman will report abuse a lot faster than a man will.

    As for Paulding SO handling the situation professionally and accordingly, I am sure that they will do what they can with the information they received.

  13. I know both of these kids and they are probably two of the least violent guys I have ever known. Ricky is a sweet hearted, big teddy bear of a guy and I would be genuinely surprised if he was to even fight back if he was attacked. He is very passive. I don't know the whole situation because I was not there, but I would be willing to bet that if there was any physical contact made by Ricky, it was done in self defense.
