I just learned something even thou I'm alittle confused. They say during bad storms getting inside and find the safest place in your house. Well, a friend just told me that she would have to go OUTSIDE and find the deepest ditch if a tornado was to hit where she lives. That would be Carrolton area. I would think the tornado would go over the ditch but suck someone out of it.
No, I'm not from Georgia so I don't know to much about tornado.....I just know the damage it can cause. I'm use to blizzards, Hurricans, but not tornados.
In my home we go downstairs into my bathroom since it is completely underground.
I understand that cold hitting hot causes thunderstroms and when there is a stream of wind going through it, that is what causes tornados.
Would someone take the time and tell me if I'm right?
The post above said to keep an eye on the sky, yes if I knew what to look for...Doesn't it get very dark out when a tornado is formed making it hard to see what is going on in the sky or does the sky do something else?
If you do not have a basement, go to the middle-most section of your home that is completely enclosed on the ground floor (under the stairs, closet, bathroom.)
If you are in a trailer or a vehicle, you should get out and lay in a ditch. Just remember that most deaths from tornadoes are from the debris and not the tornado itself.
When a tornado is approaching, many times it will hail. It will start to get very quiet and the clouds sometimes have a strange greenish color to them.
