K9 Grep retires
(Paulding County, GA) The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office would like to announce the retirement of the oldest member of the Canine Division, K-9 Grep. K-9 Grep began his employment with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office in December 2004. K-9 Grep is a 10 ½ year old Belgian Malinois and was imported to the United States from the Czech Republic in December 2004. As many people may remember, K-9 Grep was Corporal Ashley Henson’s partner for many years. In December 2011 Corporal Henson was promoted and became the Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer. Because of this, K-9 Grep was passed to another handler. K-9 Grep was most recently paired with Deputy Rickey Waters. Deputy Waters and K-9 Grep became an instant success locating multiple fleeing suspects as well as alerting on large quantities of narcotics. K-9 Grep has been responsible for locating hundreds of pounds of narcotics which resulted in the seizure of many vehicles. K-9 Grep has also been very successful in tracking nearly 60 fleeing suspects where he located them hiding. Furthermore, K-9 Grep has performed hundreds of demonstrations for schools, churches, Boy Scout / Girl Scout groups, clubs, associations, etc. K-9 Grep will truly be missed and it will be very difficult to replace him. K-9 Grep will live out the rest of his days in retirement relaxing and basking in the sun. Congratulations to K-9 Grep and thank you for your service.
