This car was in the queue when I was talking to Gene Fuller and asking him which cars were likely to win.

 

He pointed to this one and said Johnny Hawkins (I think I got it right) had been racing there for nearly 40 years and was just as likely as anyone to win. I asked if the dragsters ... you know rail-based cars ... were going to win the money but he said, no, virtually any of the cars could end up a wining the big money, both doored and those without because the racing was 'bracketed.'
