Iva Bernice Birchfield

Iva Bernice Birchfield, age 84, of Rockmart, GA passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2007. She was born on August 31, 1922 in Knoxville, TN to the late Mark and Susan Johnson. She was a registered nurse for 15 years, a professional photographer and a song writer. She performed on the Grand Ole Opry with the Johnson sisters and also performed with Earl Scruggs and Lester Flatts. She was a member of Whitworth Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Anderson; her brothers, Almon Johnson and Pete Johnson; and her sisters, Tempi Cross and Leiann Moore.

Surviving are her husband, Leonard Birchfield; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sandra Birchfield and Almon Allen Hipshire; her daughter, Linda Jett; her sister, Helen Sands; her grandchildren, Hope Hamilton, David Birchfield, Randy Birchfield, Misty Roberts, Britttany Anderson, Jennifer Birchfield and Jason Hipshire; her great-grandchildren, Alisha Roberts, Addison Birchfield, Braiden O’Neal, Clayton McClendon, Jesse Hamilton, Nicole Hamilton, Sarah Hipshire and Corey Hipshire.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday. February 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA with Pastor Jack Henry officiating. The interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville, GA. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 23, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Clark Funeral Home in Hiram is in charge of arrangements.
