Mr. Marion Franklin Lindsey, affectionately known as “Bob” to his friends and family, passed away at the age of 83 on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at his residence.

 

Bob was born on June 7, 1930 in Dallas, GA to loving parents the late Mr. James Marion Lindsey and Mrs. Omie Roberts Lindsey. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 18 years Mrs. Betty Jo Lindsey, and his second wife Mrs. Johnnie Cox Lindsey, one grandson Greg Self, sister Ethel Lindsey, brother Paul Lindsey, sister Lois Gordon, sister Ruth Stanley, Sister Cora McDowell, sister Eula Gazaway, sister Ozell Graham, brother Eddie Lindsey, and brother James Lindsey.

 

Bob retired from the United States Air Force where he served in the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was also a sheet metal mechanic for the Air Force and worked as an Orthotics Technician for Atlanta Orthotics. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dallas. He was also a Mason at Dallas Lodge 182 and a member of the Elks Club. Bob was friendly, he never met a stranger. He was a devoted good Samaritan and could always be found helping others. Even visiting on his walks around Wal-Mart

 

He is survived by four children Mr. & Mrs. Ronnie (Beverly) Self of Burleson, TX, Mr. David Lindsey of Dallas, Mr. & Mrs. (Phillip) Connie Major, and Mr. Michael Lindsey, both of Hiram; four grandchildren Mr. & Mrs. (Donnie) Mandy Self Fickland of OK, Mrs. Missy Self Moseley of TX, Ms. Diana Self of TX, and Mr. Andrew Lindsey Finnegan of GA; one brother Mr. Joe Lindsey of Marietta; several nieces, nephews, and many other beloved relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services for Bob Lindsey will be held in the Chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home of Saturday, May 24 at 2 pm with Reverend George Barnett officiating. Interment will be on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 1 pm at the Georgia National Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 23, 2014 from 4 – 9 pm and Saturday, May 24 from 9 am until the funeral hour.
