Mr. Roger "Poppie" Prather

Mr. Roger Talmadge Prather affectionately known as Poppie, age 69, a lifetime resident of Dallas, Georgia passed away on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Wellstar Paulding Hospital.

 

Roger was born on August 4, 1943, to loving parents the late Mr. William Fate Prather and Mrs. Marjorie Katherine Herrin Prather. He was also preceded in death by two sons Mr. Gary Fate Prather and Mr. Andrew Scott Prather; one sister Ms. Regina Prather; two brothers Mr. Bobbie Joe Prather, Mr. Charles Larry Prather, and infant brother Douglas Lavern Prather; two step brothers Mr. Hoyt Prather and Mr. Mike Prather.

 

He worked as a supervisor for the Cobb County Water Department. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. His favorite times were spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

Mr. Prather is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Mrs. Mary Lee Prather of Dallas, GA; two sons Mr. Greg Prather of Dallas, GA, and Mr. & Mrs. Roger Neal (Elaine) Prather of Cedartown, GA; one daughter Mr. & Mrs. Keith (Kathy) Cowart of Dallas, GA; nine grandchildren Nicole Dutto, Natasha Cowart, Travis Cowart, William Moss, Zach Prather, Luke Prather, Xavier Propper, Myra Linn Prather, and Larry Neal Prather; nine great grandchildren; three sisters Mrs. Mary Florence Graham of Ringgold, GA; Mr. & Mrs. Mark (Edith) Smith, and Mrs. Gwen Sexton both of Dallas, GA; five brothers Mr. & Mrs. Tommy (Vickey) Prather of Dallas, GA, Mr. & Mrs. Ronald (Lydia) Prather of Winston, GA, Mr. & Mrs. Wiley (Dana) Prather of Cedartown, GA, Mr. & Mrs. Troy (Mel) Prather, and Mr. & Mrs. Jeff (Idella) Prather both of Dallas, GA; two step brothers Mr. David Prather of Nevada, and Mr. Chuck Prather of Washington; many nieces, nephews and other beloved family members and friends.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Prather will be held in the Chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 3 pm with Brother Jeff Prather officiating.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 4 – 9 pm and Sunday, September 30, 2012 from 9 am until the funeral hour.
