Hiram to Host Official Event for National Recovery Event Ride and Rally for Recovery Chosen by SAMSH

In 2010, 31.3 million people aged 18 or older (13.7 percent of the U.S. population) received mental health services according to the 2010 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, an annual survey released by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). In 2010, 2.6 million people aged 12 or older (1.0 percent of the U.S. population) who needed treatment for an illicit drug or alcohol use problem received specialty treatment at a specialty facility in the past year. . To showcase these issues' impact on the local community, the Hiram Ride and Rally for Recovery to be held Saturday, September 22 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hiram, is gaining support of local businesses, churches and organizations. The Event, which is for the whole community, not just those in recovery, has been chosen as an "Official Recovery Month" Event (www.recoverymonth.gov ) and will kick off with a motorcycle ride at 12:00 noon (registration starts at 11:00) and the commencing of a block party, with two top notch live bands, free food, children's activities, speakers and live entertainment, held on the "Green" in front of the church. "Seeing people of all ages and from all walks of life join together for a common cause is extraordinary," said Deena Davis of Family Intervention Specialist, Inc. of Hiram. "We want whole families, children, teens, clergy, counselors and civic leaders to be part of the event." The Ride and Rally is totally free of charge, unless you decide to ride a motorcycle in the event, which costs $10.00. We will provide seating, but people are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets. Coolers are welcome. (NO ALCOHOL, of course) It's going to be a beautiful day, full of fun and entertainment."
