Mr. James A. Mahaffey, age 89, of Dallas Georgia passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Wellstar Paulding Hospital.

 

 

 

James was born on May 7, 1923 to loving parents the late Mr. Terry Wesley Mahaffey and Mrs. Julia Davis Mahaffey. He worked as a carpenter for North Brothers. He valiantly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Pickett’s Mill Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

 

 

 

Mr. Mahaffey is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Mrs. Betty Henderson Mahaffey of Dallas, GA; two daughters Mr. & Mrs. Daniel (Donna) Worley of Cartersville, and Ms. Wanda Drummond of Dallas, GA; two sons Mr. David Mahaffey of Dallas, GA, and Mr. Dale Mahaffey of Acworth, GA; seven grandchildren Chris Drummond, Josh Drummond, Amanda Drummond, Ben Mahaffey, Regina Mahaffey, Jessica Allen, and John Bearden; seven great grandchildren Kiersten, Aiden, Sydney, Shaun, Sara, Seth, and Silas; two sisters Mrs. Annie Lee Cook of Lafayette, GA, and Mrs. Lula Mae Martin of Summerville, GA, one brother in law Mr. Buddy Galt of Kennesaw, GA, several nieces, nephews, and other beloved family and friends.

 

 

 

Funeral services for Mr. James Mahaffey will be held at Pickett’s Mill Baptist Church on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 2 pm with the Reverend Tony Samples and Gordon Woodard officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Summerville, GA.

 

 

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 14, 2012 from 6 – 9 pm and Sunday, July 15, 2012 from 9 am until we leave in procession for the church at 1 pm.
