Clark Funeral Home Posted March 8, 2012 Report Share Posted March 8, 2012 Evelyn Rakestraw Womack, age 87, of Dallas, GA, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012. She was born in Hawkinsville, GA, March 18, 1924, and was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Nute Rakestraw & Mary Lou Etta Rakestraw; husband, J. L. Womack; sons, Jimmy Womack and Billy Womack; sister, Clara Mae Millsapp; brothers, Coleman Rakestraw, Leon Rakestraw, Herman Rakestraw and Hughdean Rakestraw; and grandparents, Elijah & Sarah Rakestraw and William & Mary Freeman. Mrs. Womack enjoyed children and was a babysitter for many years. She enjoyed quilting and embroidery, loved Braves baseball, cooking and spending time with friends and family. Mrs. Womack was very active in her church, New Canaan Baptist, where she worked in VBS and was in the Joy Riders Senior Adults. Survivors include her sons & daughter-in-law, Oscar Womack of Dallas, GA and Jerry & Debbie Womack of Marietta, GA; daughter, Joyce W. Groves of Dallas, GA; daughter-in-law, Carlene Womack of Dallas, GA; brother, Jake Rakestraw of Hiram, GA; sister, Frances Jones of Dallas, GA; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 3:00 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Jason Loudermilk officiating. Interment will follow in New Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 9, 2012, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA is in charge of arrangements.
