Mae Smith, age 92, of Dallas, GA, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012. The daughter of the late, Luther J. & Virgie C. Shields, she was born February 7, 1919, in Rome, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hassell Smith and sisters, Flavil Deluke and Hazel Starr. Mrs. Smith was a member of New Hope First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons & daughters-in-law, Ron & Jan Smith of Smyrna, GA, and Greg & Jan Smith of Douglasville, GA; brothers & sister-in-law, D. L. Shields of Rome, GA, and Jack & Frances Shields of Smyrna, GA; sisters, Opal Walker of Tunnel Hill, GA, and Grace Clemons of Rome, GA; grandson, Josh Evans; great-granddaughter, Jessica Rose Burke; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 11:00 AM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Durwood Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home, on Friday, January 27, 2012, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Ronnie and Greg, I am so sorry to learn of your Mother's passing. She was always such a kind and sweet person. I have lots of fond memories of her and your Dad from church all those years ago.

Ms. Mae was a long-time member of our church and she will be missed. Lovely lady who was as good as gold!
