Betty Jo Harris, age 76, of Taylorsville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2011. She was born December 29, 1934, in Taylorsville, Georgia and was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley Waters and Mae Belle (Wilson) Waters; husband of 50 years, H. Alton Harris; and sister, Margie Kay.

Mrs. Harris worked at E-Z Mills, Peoples Bank of Taylorsville for 13 years and owned a dress shop “under the bridge” in Cartersville before working side by side with her husband at Harris Food Store for years.

Mrs. Harris was a devoted member of Floyd Creek Baptist Church in Taylorsville, Georgia where she was active in the Choir, WMU, and VBS. She had a heart for serving others, never drawing attention to herself.

Survivors include her son, Mr. & Mrs. Tony (Stephanie) Harris of Dallas, Georgia; and three grandchildren, Mr. Justin Harris, Mr. Jamison Harris, and Miss Taylor Harris all of Dallas, Georgia.

Funeral services will be Sunday, November 13, 2011, at 3:00 PM, from Floyd Creek Baptist Church in Taylorsville, GA, with Reverend Roger Fisher, Reverend Tommy Harris and Reverend Tony Campbell officiating.

Mrs. Harris will lie-in-state at the church from 2:00 PM until the service time. Interment will be in the Floyd Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Clark Funeral Home, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Building Fund of Floyd Creek Baptist Church, P. O. Box 312, Taylorsville, GA 30178 or to the Music Department of Legacy Baptist Church, P. O. Box 2000, Dallas, GA 30132.
