Clark Funeral Home Posted October 22, 2010 Report Share Posted October 22, 2010 (edited) Don Champion, age 75, of Acworth, GA (Paulding County), passed away Friday, October 22, 2010. He was born in Dallas, GA, November 5, 1934, to the late, Walter Clyde Champion, Sr. & the late, Mary Louise Cato Champion. Mr. Champion was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jean Brown and brothers, Walter Clyde “Buster” Champion, Jr., Billy Champion, Kenneth Champion and Sam Champion. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of the American Legion Post 111, Masonic Lodge Bartlett Lodge and Yaarab Temple Shrine. Mr. Champion was Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Dallas First United Methodist Church, where he was a member for many years. He was the owner of J. Don Décor. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joan Bivens Champion; daughter & son-in-law, Gretchen & Chad Curl of Dallas, GA; brother & sister-in-law, David & Dianne Champion of Hoschton, GA; grandchild, Charles Benjamin "Chip" Curl, III; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Sunday, October 24, 2010, at 3:00 PM, from Dallas First United Methodist Church, with Reverend Steve Schofield, Chris Pavlovsky, and Dr. Ken Ray officiating. Interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens. Brad Butler, Patrick Butler, Jason Waddell, Chad Curl, David Champion, Brian Champion, Michael Champion and John Johnson will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, October 23, 2010, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Dallas First U. M. C. Building Fund, 141 E. Memorial Drive, Dallas, GA 30132. Clark Funeral Home, Hiram, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
