Funeral Director Posted February 17, 2010 Report Share Posted February 17, 2010 Mr. Grover Cleveland Baggett age 90 of Dallas Ga, passed away Tuesday February 16, 2010 at Uni Healt in Austell, Ga. Mr. Baggett was born on March 11, 1919 the son of the late Arthur Allen Baggett and Claudie Bell Baggett. Mr. Baggett served in the United States Army during World War II, beginning his service in 1940. He stormed Normandy Beach and was a Prisoner of War. He was Honorably Discharged in 1945 and received a Purple Heart for his service. He was very active in the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars, and served as a Chaplain for the Paulding County chapter for 10 years. He was a carpenter by trade. He loved the outdoors and gardening was one of his favorite pastimes. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar. He loved the Lord and was one of the founding builders of the present Smyrna United Methodist Church. Mr. Baggett is survived by 3 Daughters Ms. Deborah Head of Hiram, Ga; Ms. Gaii Baxter of Douglasville, Ga; Mr. & Mrs. Mike (Esther) Medford of Bowdon, Ga; 2 Sons Mr. & Mrs. Tim (Betty) Baggett and Mr. Sammy Baggett all of Dallas, Ga; 1 Sister Nobie Lee Cohran of Dallas, Ga; 1 Brother Tom Baggett of Waco, Ga; 2 Sister In Laws Blanche Cohran and Eloise Baggett both of Dallas, Ga; several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild, as well as many other beloved family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved Wife of 48 years Mrs. Addie Marvine Cohran Baggett, his loving Parents Mr. & Mrs. Arthur and Claudie Baggett, 3 Brothers Aubrey Baggett, Glen Baggett, and Lowell Baggett; 2 Sisters Grace Wix and Ethel Cohran; and 3 Children Danny Baggett, Jeremiah Baggett, and Lydia Baggett. Services for Mr. Grover Baggett will be held at Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 2 PM in the chapel with Reverend Benny Abney and Pastor Ray Vaughn officiating. Music will be provided by Jeff Eberhart, Neysa Keown, Celia Cohran, Jimmy Baggett, Rod Lipson, and Dwayne Baggett. Pallbearers will include Gabriel Head, Daniel Head, Jason Penegar, Jason Reece, Dwayne Baggett, and Tommy Baggett. John Stogner will serve as a Honorary Pallbearer. Interment will follow at Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Baggett will be Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 4 PM – 9 PM and Thursday, February 18, 2010 from 9 AM until the service begins at 2 PM.
