Idio
My son, a Freshman at South Paulding High School, has published a Face Book Page called Southpauldinghighschool Graduateusout. The Paulding County Board of Education has redistricted to help with the growth of Paulding County. Although this needs to be completed, he believes that those students who are all ready enrolled within the school should be allowed the option to stay. He is not asking for transportation, we are very willing to provide it; he only wants to be allowed to continue his education within the community he has been in for several years. Thank you for your support. Please send your email as directed to the people listed on the “Note” within the Page. Letter to The Board of Education: Thank you for taking the time to hear the parents and students of South Paulding High School at the meeting for the redistricting of Paulding County students. We ask that you seriously consider the idea of graduating out the current students who want to stay with their school. It is truly their school. They have put so much effort into the family they have created and wish to remain a part of that which has helped to mold them into the people they are today. These students feel as though they are being punished by the same people who tell them they care. Some are not even being given the option to stay and finish what they have begun and they are not asking for transportation, just the decency to be given the option of staying with the community they were told they should support and do support. How are these students supposed to trust the authority figures who continue to keep them from pursuing the path that they and their parents have worked together to fulfill? This is very important to the students, not just the ones who are being forced to leave but also the ones who are allowed to stay. And when they reach voting age in the next one to four years, they will remember your names. For parents who have bought in this school district because of South Paulding High School, they are now being told that all their hard work to place their children in a school system they trust does not matter. Some families are now considering moving to stay within the district lines for SPHS. A lot of families do not have the option due to the economy but would if they weren’t stuck in their current financial situation. Placement in activities such as band, football, soccer and softball and other important activities are now being ripped away from the people who put their heart and soul into their performance. They are being told that their hard work does not really matter in the end because they will not be given a choice. Please take the time to understand that by giving these students the option to graduate out you are giving them the choice to make a decision based on their own current situations and are not being forced by the Paulding County School District to give up what they have worked so hard to achieve. This will not only alleviate the pain and suffering of the students and parents but will also alleviate the growth problem within the school over time instead of causing major damage to the those effected. Again, we thank you for your time and sincerely hope to be given choice and option in this difficult time for everyone. Thank you for your time.
mhparker92
I will tell you this - apply for school choice under house bill 251. There are truly so few students and parents that will apply for it that more than likely, the students that will apply will actually get in. I don't know where these kids are going. If they are going to Paulding and South has passed AYP, then they'll probably be able to school choice back no matter what. There are options. BTW, heard that y'all's redistricting meeting was a BLAST!!

BTW, heard that y'all's redistricting meeting was a BLAST!! Thank you. We're being told there are 76 spots left to fill and a lottery will take place for those that apply. The bill you are speaking of does not seem to matter in this case, we tried. And yes, it was interesting. It seems there really isn't another plan even though we're being told that this particular plan is not set in stone.
