hcrider
I am trying to help a family member who is a single mom of two boys (12 & 2). She is desperately trying to get into some public housing or some type of section 8 but I understand that is hard to come by and most counties are not taking applications. She is low-income and needs housing ASAP as she needs to get her son back into school. She is living with a friend now but its VERY temporary and she needs something more permanent and long term. Do any of my fellow pcommers have any advice on what she can do? She also needs a day time job as she currently works nights but would like to work normal hours and be home in the evenings with the kids. Lucky for her, the friend is watching the children so she can work and bring in a little income. Again, any advice? Thanks!

Most apartment complexes set aside a number of units for section 8 applicants, and people renting out houses can also accept section 8 if they have applied to do so. I just found this link, it may be helpful. Section
