The defense said it was prejudicial to show jurors so many pictures, some of which show the same body parts. Sperry defended the number of photos, saying they're all necessary to give jurors an accurate understanding of Ewing's injuries. Ewing's cause of death was suffocation caused by her crushed ribs.
