Billy Harold Ratteree, age 76, of Dallas, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2009. A native of Paulding County, he was born June 6, 1932, and was preceded in death by his parents, Ben. F. & Ruby Hulsey Ratteree, wife, Joan Hardy Ratteree, son, Dennis f. Ratteree, and sister, Betty Mae Ratteree. Mr. Ratteree was a Korean War veteran of the U. S. Army. He was retired from Southern Bell and AT & T as a PBX Installer, after 33 years, and then was self employed for 15 years with Ratteree Telecom. Mr. Ratteree served on the Paulding County School Board for 8 years, was a member of the Civitan Club, the California Ruritan Club, and the Board of Directors for Paulding Enterprises. Mr. Ratteree had served as a deacon for Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Survivors include his son, Tim S. Ratteree of Hiram; daughter, Jan C. Ratteree of Dallas; brother & sister-in-law Joe & Ann Ratteree of Dallas; sisters & brothers-in-law, Gloria & Gerald Morris of Powder Springs and Patricia & Ken Kolb of Douglasville; grandchildren, Brittany Ratteree, Erica Ratteree and Tangela Ratteree; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009, at 2:00 pm, from the First Baptist Church of Dallas, with Dr. Gregg Potts and Reverend Tony Samples officiating. Interment will follow in Dallas Memory Gardens. Wayman Holland, Jack Hart, Van Westbrook, Larry Nix, Russell Strickland, John Rakestraw, and Billy Joe Lindsey will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Ratteree's Sunday School class, the Fishers of Men, will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Dallas Building Fund, 201 Main Street, Dallas, GA 30132.
