J. C. Compton, age 65, of Rockmart (Paulding County), passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2008. He was born in Paulding County, on January 3, 1943, and was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde & Ruby Compton, wife, Katherine Lou Compton, and a daughter, Charlene Hartness. Mr. Compton retired from the Ford Motor Company Hapeville Assembly Plant after 31 years. He was a member of New Freedom Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son & daughter-in-law, Marcus & Robin Compton of Austell; daughters, Angela Dawn Smith of Gulf Breeze, FL, and Belinda Marie Woodward of Cedartown; sisters & brothers-in-law, Lyndal Compton Hayes of Rockmart, Betty Jo & Hugh Thornton of Rockmart, and Tiny Delores & Ernie Dodd of Rockmart; grandchildren, Lundon Smith, Crystal Brown, Skylar Compton, Haley Hartness, Ricky Compton, and Luke Woodward; and great-grandchild, Kanton Brown.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at 11:00am, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Andy Fennell officiating. Interment will follow in Yorkville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.

I called my dad to tell him of this, and he said he thought a lot of him! They both retired fom Ford, and so did hubby.
