McIver

Mr. Cal McIver, age 62, of Douglasville, GA, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2007. He was born on February 16, 1945 in Tampa, FL to the late James and Irene McIver. He was a retired Major in the Army, serving 3 tours in Vietnam with the special forces. After his military service, he was a deputy sheriff in Pinellas Co., Florida, retiring after 23 years. Mr. McIver was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Hiram, GA.

Survivors include his wife, Jane C. McIver; a son, James Calvin McIver III and his wife, Jodee of Tampa, FL; daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Shawn Young of Acworth, Kelly and Rob Wilkerson of Greensboro, Maryland, Kacey and Christopher Smith of Annapolis, Maryland and Kristie and Thomas Amritt of Hiram, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Catherine and Jim O’Keefe of Agawam, Massachusetts and Eede and Jim Davis of Springhill, FL; 14 grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Harry Hawkins and Dr. Roy Daniels officiating. The interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. McIver will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave., 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851 or to Bethel United Methodist Church Mens Club, 1444 Bethel Church Rd., Hiram, GA 30141.
