Clark Funeral Home Posted June 26, 2007 Report Share Posted June 26, 2007 Joseph Wayne “Joe” Smart, age 73, of Dallas, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2007. He was born July 22, 1933, in Piedmont, AL, to the late John F. & Janie Estelle Smart. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, John C. “J. C.” Smart, Bernard “B. D.” Smart, Edward Smart, Chuck B. Smart, and Otto “Frank” Smart. Mr. Smart was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was Post Commander for the V. F. W. in Center Township, PA, a driver for J & L Steel and he was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Sharon Smart; sons and daughter-in-law, Barry & Christine Smart, Dallas, GA, and Wayne Smart, Jr., Conway, PA; daughters & sons-in-law, Sonya & Brad Allen, Albuquerque, NM, Cynthia Marie & Phil DeVitis, Conway, PA, and Karen Denise Grimm, Erie, PA; brothers, Harold Smart and Hoyt “Glen” Smart; sisters, Evelyn Reed and Carolyn Boice; grandchildren, Cindy & Savana Grimm, Joe & Luke Smart, and Justine DeVitis; great-grandchildren, Ireland Lei Brown and Morgan Erin Brown; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2007, at 11:00am, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Tony Samples officiating. Interment will follow in Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
