Can you explain why it's painful for them? Are they given something to produce larger eggs? I ask because last month my cockateiel died from a prolapsed vent due to laying an egg and the vet said that the eggs are formed to the size and shape of the birds uterus. So with that i just assumed that the larger the egg the larger the uterus with all birds including chickens. I'm not a chicken farmer so I don't know, so please tell me.
I'll try had you rather have a 6lb. baby or a 14lb baby?

I had a hen once that layed double yoked egss that were about twice the size of the large eggs from the store
Key word here "once" point proved.

My worst Christmas memory is 2001. We had buried the second twin on December 12. My husband literally *forced* me to put up a Christmas tree on the Sunday before Christmas, which was December 23. I cried almost all day on Christmas. New Years Day. Valentine's Day. Easter. Memorial Day. All year almost.
So sorry!
My best Christmas memory is yet to be made. We are going to celebrate with the new granddaughter.
