  1. Our boxer, Daisy, took off this morning from our yard. We live in the Wayside Lane/ Poole Elementary area. She was last seen heading toward Spring Rd and Willow Springs through the WMA. She chewed off her tag, but is wearing a red collar. Can e-mail pictures if needed.

If found PLEASE contact us @ 770-490-4742. She belongs to my 8-year-old son and he's very upset :(

  2. Okay, I'm curious...NOT negative, I have been researching online schools of education for myself, so I truly am interested....if your degree is not in education, did you enter the school system through the TAPP program after graduation? I'm assuming since your degree is not in education then you did not have to do a semester of student teaching, is that correct? Thanks for your help!!

My degree is Interdisciplinary studies which is the same thing as "elementary education." Many colleges, especially out of state have degrees with this title. It confused me too at first, but it's the same thing, just different words! The people @ the school board- both local and state level- knew exactly what it was. Yes, I did have to student teach. Again, different ling- WGU calls in demonstration teaching. It is completely a degree in education.

  3. I just finish my Associates in accounting at Chattahoochee Tech (last class was today!). I plan to go on for a Bachlors next. Do you know if this college offers accounting degrees?

Yes, they do. I don't know very much about them though. Check them out @ www.wgu.edu

  4. PLEASE LET ME TELL YOU THAT WESTERN GOVERNORS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!

I graduated last year with my BA in Interdisciplinary studies and am now teaching first grade. I understand that some people are skeptical, and I was too in the beginning. I called the Ga Professional Standards Commision at least 3 or 4 times before I finally made my decision. Being a full-time stay at home mom made it very difficult for me to find time to go to school. WGU was a God-send for me and my family. I feel as though I am just as qualified as the "standard" college grad; I have the same certification and make the same $!

I understand that there are many schools out there that will take advantage of you, but WGU is not one of them. Enjoy it and CONGRATULATIONS!!! I remember how excited I was when I found them!!! Please PM me if you have any questions/concerns.

  5. When are ya'll going to the lighthouse? They might like that.

I'm not sure. We're cutting our trip short...we're driving down on Thursday and leaving Saturday as soon as we're cleared to leave. So it really just depends on the times we have to be at the competition. That's why I haven't made any real plans, I don't know how much time we'll have. Are ya'll still staying at the same hotel?

  6. I already told you that we can have your 20-year old do all the sitting while we go on a ghost tour! ;)

Seriously though, Aubrey would love a ghost tour, but my mom says they're not worth the $$$. We are planning on taking the kids to the lighthouse on Tybee while we're there, but other than that I realy don't know either.

You can always just hang out by the pool with yours truly! :p

  7. Wow! Thanks for the suggestions. My husband is really thinking about that whole Chinese restaurant bit! Just kiddin'

We usually do the movie, but we've seen this week's film a dozen times already. One of the parks sounds really good; I'm sure they would like Red Top. I guess I should have said they are 8 and 6.

  8. Thanks for all of the tips; I'll keep them in mind.

Grand Turks - Visitors from U.S.A. and Canada may enter without a passport if holding an original birth certificate (or, a notarized copy) and a photo ID.

Half Moon Bay - A valid passport.

Nassau - U.S. citizens need either a passport, naturalization certificate, or original certified birth certificate as well as photo identification.

Make sure you have your passport, last year when I went there were a few very dissappointed people who didn't bring theirs.

When I talked to the cruiseline, the lady said that the new standard effective 1/1/07 is that anyone traveling outside of the US to this region and several others had to have a valid passport. So, we're planning on getting that taken care of asap!

  9. Thank you all so much for your feedback. I booked our cruise last night! EVERYONE we talked to said to go for the cruise. Unfortunately, I could not book a 7-night because of my kids and the babysitting arrangement. We also changed our minds on the actual cruise. We will be going to Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Nassau. It was the only 5 night cruise that had three stops. I am very excited and prepared to travel with sunscreen and bug spray! Thanks again!

  10. This is the exact reason that my husband, a mechanic, insists we buy Nissan! ;)

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble. My mom and my friend, who both have Trailblazers, seem to have a lot of trouble out of thier air conditioning too. Nothing to do with the battery though, just glitches that cause the air to just stop working periodically.

I hope you get it worked out!

  11. Do the cruise, everything is included except for drinks and the tip. And if you want to do something extra at some of the stops, you may have to pay for it. Plus you get to see more places as well. On the cruise you also have nightly entertainment; shows, dance, midnight buffet, and other stuff. On the one I went on last year, even the room service for food was included in the cost.

It's a lot like going to a resort, but you get to go to a different place everyday.

Yeah, seeing more than one location is one of the big deciding factors for me. Both offer so much...I just can't decide!!!

  12. Ryans had a sign up the other day that said "Invisible friends eat free" .

wonder how many people took them up on that offer.

doesn't Applebys have a kids eat free as well?

Yeah, luckily my kids don't do the invisible friend thing, otherwise they'd beg to eat there all the time now! I am not sure about Applybee's, but would love to know!

  13. In February my husband and I will be married 10 years  We are looking at either a 5-night cruise to Grand Cayman and Mexico (cant remember if it's Cancun or Cozumel) or a 3-night, all-inclusive stay at a VERY nice resort in Cancun. The all-inclusive is a little more expensive but includes everything from airfare, activities, all meals, drinks, even gratuitiy is included in the price. On the other hand, we've never been on a cruise either! Does anyone have any experiences or insights?

  14. I know I have seen the list on here before, but would like to get an update. It seems like I hear of a lot of restaurants participating now, I just can never remember which ones.

I know Texas Roadhouse is Mondays, O'Charleys is Tuesday, but what are the rest?

  15. Ok, I know that I am the aunt, and you may not want to take my opinion. BUT for what it's worth I love:

    Grayson

    Brooks

Grady (that would have been my next boy name)

    Carson

Fisher (that might be a little too much for ya'll to have a Hunter and Fisher  )

    Parker

    Garrett

These are just some of my favorites.

  16. I love the show, though.  I just do not want my wife to find out that I like it.  She thinks I am enduring it for her, so I get control of the remote most of the time now.

Great way to keep you secret hidden...post it so she can read it. You know if she didn't see it here, I would tell her. You're so busted! :p

  17. Trust me I am speaking from experience.  Kennesaw refused to take Algebra 191 and my Psy and Soc classes which were both 191 classes.  Also you must consider that if it has been more than three years most colleges will not take your classes.  I am in no way knocking CTC, I have a degree from there.

WOW! That's really odd! They took mine just fine. Maybe they have different evaluators that can be choosy when they want...who knows?

  18. Ok, speaking from experience, Chattahoochee is Great! I did the exact same thing you're wanting to do. I began there in ECE, then transferred to KSU.

However, I must warn you that although your core classes, such as math, english, etc will transfer fine (as long as you take the college level-191 couses) the ECE courses do NOT transfer as easily. For example 4 of the ECE courses at CTC all transferred as 1 course to KSU. There are a lot of courses that transfer like this. Some of the ECE courses don't transfer at all. I spent my time there only taking the courses that I could get credit for at Kennesaw.

You can actually talk to student services or go onto KSU or UWG's website and find a transfer agreement that will tell you exactly what credit you'll get for each course.

    I hope this helps.

  19. Yes, I got married on Feb 14th. I am cecily79's SIL. This Tues will be 9 years...it's been tough! It's convenient that we got married on a holiday, bc he NEVER forgets our anniversary, but it stinks because I always get "combo" gifts. :p And, because my bday is 4 days after Christmas, I get "combo" gifts then too. I really cheated myself! Just kiddin'
