  1. Thanks Lady Raider for the beautiful poem. Mother's Day is going to be especially hard for me this year. It is because of my chidren that I get to celebrate Mother's Day and when you lose one it makes it that much harder. I will rejoice for Larisa and Evan but my heart breaks for Rianna. Love your mothers call them no matter how far away or how removed you are from them. Love you guys. Lara Lee~Heartstar

  2. Because of modern health care people live longer than they once did. But do you think people feel healthier (better) throughout their lives now vs. when they died at younger ages? It seems if there were ways to live longer and feel better... :)

Here's some info on lifespans at stanford.edu:

The leading cause of death in women 200 years ago was death in childbirth, and now it is heart disease and cancer. Life expectancy has grown from 30 years at the beginning of human existence to 70+ years today.

I think people were more active physically in the past and in some ways were healthier on a day to day basis. But they died from diseases that are curable today-like small pox, yellow fever, cholera etc. They didn't have the same stresses we have today-life was slower. You still had worries like would you get the hay in before the rains sat in; would you have enough feed for your life stock to get through the Winter and Spring; would you put up enough food to get you through the Winter?

Also, when you walk through an old cemtery you can see how many young people died before they became adults due to disease. It must have been heartbreaking to know you would likely lose several of your offspring before they were grown.

I doubt even given the harder life they led that we are any happier today than they were 200 years ago. Just my opinion.

  3. Boy doesn't this hit home! I have always been critical of parents who have young children or any child out of their car seats/seatbelts. I have yelled at them through my window, too. Knowing that Rianna didn't have her seatbelt on when she was such a "seatbelt Nazi" in our cars just sends me. When I do carriders at school I try to make sure all the kids I put into cars leave with their seatbelts on. I need to know just how to do the 911 thing- how did they respond and have you done that in Paulding County?

Sideline- I saw at least 5-6 police cars pulling cars over after I went to Gina's vistitation. The majority were young drivers. Yeah! keep that up.

Thanks for the vent Auntsuger- Love ya!

  4. I am interested, too. This is still really a raw time. With the recent events of Gina and Dillon it has opened the wounds again about Rianna. A consideration may be to have a branch where siblings who have lost siblings can talk about their feelings. Sometimes it is easier than talking to adults. I might have a place, too. PM me if you need to. Keep me posted and in mind.

  5. Boy, do you know how to have fun! Family birthday parties at our house our not nearly this exciting-except for CW's 40th- you'll have to ask him about that one. What does this do to Peaches' soccer career? Hope everything is going okay. We are thinking about you guys.

  6. Right around the corner. I have been sad for days. EPHS has been hit so hard. Of course it brought back memories of Rianna (and Jon). Please let the families know that we are available if they want to talk or whatever they feel is needed. We have walked in those shoes and we are willing to help them walk the miles ahead. If they want to PM me or CW411 -they can. My heart goes out----

    Love,

  7.

I could probably name you half a dozen families that I have known over the years who have a Rhiannon as a daughter... (cause of stevie nicks and all  )

Hey, hey! I do love Stevie Nicks and all but in my defense I named my daughter Rianna because she was was born in the Year of the Horse- 1990 and who better to name her after but the Horse Goddess Rhiannon. Anyway, very funny thread.

  8. Donald Eugene Watson passed away today as a result of injuries he received in an automobile accident on Camp Creek Parkway. I spoke to his wife Tina a short time ago and funeral arrangements have not yet been arranged. Please keep the Watson family in your prayers.

Please let us know what we can do for the family and what the arrangements are -we have just come back into town. I have known the family off and on for thirteen years. His son was in my eldest daughter's kindergarten class and his daughter was in my pre-K class when I was a parapro. He and his family also put the crosses up for Rianna and Jon at the crash site. I will try to call Tina later this afternoon. This family has such a tender heart. This is even a harder time for all. Love you guys.

  9. Sage and Debi

What can I say? This comes at such a hard time. I love you both very much. I loved Randy as well. We just got reconnected with your mom (Debi) when she did a memorial tattoo for Rianna on Larisa's back. I am sadder than ever this season. Let me know what we can do, seriously. PM me if you need to. And yes, both of you are very tough ladies. We can also band together on this. Love you.

  10. Happy Thanksgiving to all. We are going down to the coast. First to Savannah and then to South Carolina where CW's mom and family live. Some of you might remember CW's mom. Yes, the vivacious one. We have decided to spend most holidays for a while with family. It is still hard to stay here for the holidays. I again want to say Happy Thanksgiving to all my"family" here. Love you guys. Come visit when you can.

  13. Good afternoon! I know it's late. My daughter turned 18 today arghh!!!! and we were making birthday breakfast/brunch with strawberry and blueberry crepes. I think a early nap is in order before we go out on the town doing birthday things- I think the mall -yuck-. We did stay up late after seeing "Pirates....." Soapmom, I am right with you, Johnny Depp- whoo hoo - he is such a rogue :) :p . I also pretty sure the full moon is actually tomorrow. I know - the three days before and after.
