You somehow find the nerve to say you're not a racist. I got news for you.You're a racist as well as a bigot . The same goes for those in "agreement" with you.
Thats a fact,whether it's accepted or not .I'll say this,social progress is constant, those that live in denial of social change usually find themselves left in the dust with the handful of those that share their opinion.

Besides, one of the oldest tricks on the internet is when the same person fictiously post replies under different assumed names that all originate from one computer,so I'm not impressed by a "show of support". A quick check of an I.P. address is all it takes to expose that stuff. It's a common thing on P.com.
God Bless the NAACP,ACLU,Urban League,etc. and anyone for progress. Tip:Find a good church to attend, read the bible,and most important,believe and live by what you hear from the minister and what is read in your bible, you'll be a better person 4 it.

Which is why I said god truly blesses the NAACP,and similiar groups to continue to fight against your brand of insensitivity.
The social repercussions of past legalized suppression against blacks are such that resources offered by organizations such as the NAACP offer are necessary for the disadvantaged,the poor, and the victimized to ensure social progress, for instance, overcoming a Jim Crow society. Also for staying on point for the next time that STRONG RACIAL UNDERCURRENT rears it's ugly head.
I can see social sciences are not the strong point of your education. It's not enough that blacks endured so much during years of legalized slavery,the least of which actual families were torn apart. How would you like it if as a young boy you were torn from your mothers' arms?
( I'm sure you've seen the annual TV broadcast of Moses!!!!!! better yet,grab your bible,and form a study group to enlighten your friends,too.) Blacks were chased and burned off any land they owned, lynched, swindled of any property, ideas and songs were stolen,you name it. These cruel past acts have direct bearing on today's social and economic climate.

wellnessbuff - This envirorment is not conducive to gangs? Gangs depend on 24 hour subways and bus service. You need to take a reality check. Gangs are everywhere in Georgia. Just because this is not a big city does not mean they are here. They move into this small quiet community a long time ago and they knew what they were doing they are hitting and recruiting. Thank goodness at this time, we don't have drive by shootings, killings on the street, but they are building here. They have been for a while, they are growing and as the county grows, we will see more criminal activity. Actually gangs have a lot of smarts in some ways. They know what areas to move into slowly and build.
If you moved here to get away from it all,, be alert they are here, they just have not grown as big as where you were from, and I hope we have the knowledge and sense not to let that happen. They don't have to depend on 24 transportation here in Georgia, they just hijack or steal cars, then they can drive around.
Look around they are here. Not as high of activity, and I hope they don't dig in. Maybe with you experience, you can help us here to get rid of them before they grow, and they are growing.
Baby Taz - I hope and pray we never see the gang activity you have seen. Don't full yourself there are gangs in Paulding and given the chance with growth they will grow. Any advice?
Just because you guys move from the north, it does not mean they are not here in the south. We have not had to suffer with them as much so far, but you know how it goes. We need to stop it now.

Good ole round em up, smack them around a bit and set them straight. Then when that is done, then it's time to go after the parents for neglect and irresponsibility and hold them accountable.

You say gangs are everywhere Cherokeewoman. Give up some specifics, tell me of some incidents you know of first -hand, when you say they,who are you talking about. Where do you get your detailed info from. Enlighten me and Baby Taz. Every other word in your post is refererring to "they" who is "they. Just because a few deliquents make the 6 pm news, right away uninformed people(media included) want to label them. All I ask is can you give us some names of past incidents within the last few months,how about location of these "so-called gang-related incidents".
I got news for you. In this area,all it amounts to is acquaintances running amok. This community has no gang problem, I continue to say it's only in the minds of them that believe. Get a life,for god's sake, take a day trip or something. The local police have a iron grip on this community afterhours,that's a fact. Every other car on Hwy 278 after midnight is the fuzz...... You AND YOUR ILK hang out on Pcom too much,and that in itself contributes to a sedentary lifestyle. Find a gym.LISTEN, THIS IS NO GANG ENVIROMENT. IT'S A BEDROOM COMMUNITY. Just a bit of research of recent local hisory in regards to this topic will validate my remark. .Also, the public's and elected official's indifference and suppression by ignoring this blight indirectly contributes to the problem.
Case in point, soon as we talk about the county commission failure to enact laws against offensive road signage,with the "n" word and the word "bitch" currently in plain view,courtesy of that same restauranteur on Hwy-120, those detractors start with quoting the Fifth Amendment. This man has been at this sort of stuff for decades.However, If there was a sign speaking against the war in Iraq and supporting Bin Laden,it would be gone overnight. What a bunch of hypocrits we have in positions of authority, primarily the county commission ...........It's overdue for an overhaul. Remember,elected officials,particularly incumbents,are a reflection of the communty that elects them into office. There. I firmly stand behind what I just said 100 percent. I have a strong sense that change is afoot against the current status quo at the County Commission.

i dont think people have seen the kind of gang society as i have . i use to live in illinois just outside of chicago and u knew there were gangs u had to be careful all the time . we always had fights becuz of gang fights there were always shootings . they were painting on walls of houses and trains and building everywhere . i ha vent seen anything like i have in illinois..
I agree. I've lived in suburban Brooklyn. This enviroment IS NOT CONDUCIVE to gangs. There is no 24-hr subway and or bus service, also afterhours,they practically roll up the sidewalks in Hiram,Dallas ( figure of speech,there are none) and also cops have the town on lockdown at night. The only gangs in Hiram is within the believers' imagination. Just because some wannabees brag about a gang dosen't make it so.

While I agree with what you're saying, this "side-topic" was thankfully snipped out of the *actual* "rest in peace" memorial thread, so that people could just be as nasty as their souls allow them to be in this thread without detracting away from those who wished to post something in memorial for Mrs. King.
Unbelievable.This is not nice. Now I've heard it all.........I'll keep you and your fellow "detractors" in my prayers. Put yourself in the family's shoes. .......would you want anyone to be "nasty and detracting" toward you,your daughter,son,or parents or anyone in your family in their hour of grief?.......Of course not.......... And bear in mind,we all get old and pass away................I'm of the opinion that one never says anything about someone that you would not say in their presense. Would you be willing to say the same in the presence of Mrs.King's family members?

Shameful.I'm amazed but not surprised.Not one person has recognized Mrs. King for what's important,that being her lifetime achievements.Instead it's the usual back and forth bickering. I'm a spiritual person.There is no coincidence that everything they accomplished,their heritage,beliefs,principles, has church and religious roots. When you attend church,(if you attend) remember this.........and pray for the family.

Duly noted. My thing is they only won by a touchdown,in other words,they were a turnover away from being in trouble.The defense is playing championship caliber.I was real impressed with how they played against New England earlier in the year.For the record,I'm no fan of fantasy football.I'm a traditionalist.There is no place for fantasies in football.Blood,sweat,guts,and glory,then leave it on the field.

I'm with the person that said the Bus Service will be shuttling commuters,NOT bringing in people.Your fears with,shall we say,"less than desirable" folks coming into the county are unwarranted.First,in regards to minorities,that's a insulting way of looking at this issue,secondly,We don't compare to Cobb County when it comes to job opportunities, and industry,we lack access to a major interstate.We have more cow pastures than anything else.I don't know if you noticed or not,but here they practically roll up the sidewalks after 7 p.m. Also,thanks to last months' international

As long as we assert our strengths(barring injury to key players)we'll win.
DEFENSIVELY...UGA should show up to play all 4 quarters with no let down,forcing turnovers is KEY.........
OFFENSIVELY.....the (studs up front) UGA offensive line has to dominate...this is where the game is won or lost.......protect the ball,no turnovers,we should enact a short passing
game,and use a lot of mis-direction and counter-type running plays.(the offensive line has to shine in order to do it).
LAST BUT NOT LEAST.......UGA special teams has to shine.......I hope we win going away,but my gut feeling is it will be a close,last man standing-type slugfest/ affair.
Maybe it'll rain.....(not to delay or cancel the game,just enough for the field to get muddy).....Hey,just 4 the love of the game.Only then would it be the type football the way the game is meant to be played. (smile)

I LOVE IT. My only concern was that with me working the graveyard shift,it would not benefit me,leaving me left out as usual. But with a little planning,I find it even works for me. With a 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. shift,(4 day workweek)it saves me gas and stress.I park one
of my 2 cars in the parking deck at work(it's patrolled by GA Tech police,besides they charge us 25.00 a month for usage) for any intown errands,and I have the option of saving even more spending Friday night at work(my last day of my work week is Sat.)Don't worry,I have a comfortable airbed and we also have showers,lockers,and cable TV at work,as well as internet..........so I'm set. When I can even take my laptop along,it dosen't get any better......ONE QUESTION,DO THE BUSES HAVE BICYCLE RACKS?

As a past client of AWD,I had to comment after seeing this forum........... Personally,I find their business practices aggressive and disconcerting. I met the president(who drives the truck,soliciting business)and I was not impressed.In the past,they even resorted to placing their advertising flyers INSIDE residential mailboxes during their rounds,which is against postal regulations.I experienced this personally,and my postman told me that they were then under investigation............. I find their rates are unreasonably high. They sent a bill to my address 4 MONTHS AFTER I had cancelled and paid my account in full. They sent this bill with the impression that someone else within the household would unknowingly pay it. Again,this is my personal experience. I would not recommend them.With the cost of gas,if you have a small household,save and and dump your own refuse.
