this number is good until I get my new phone line installed, 770-443-4444

  2. If the braneworld theory proves to be true, "this would upset the applecart," Petters said. "It would confirm that there is a fourth dimension to space, which would create a philosophical shift in our understanding of the natural world."

Would that fourth dimension be that of the "Super-natural"?

  3. As for the NRA, I don't know much about the history except for what I just learned in the video auntsuger posted, so I can't say yes or no. However, if the video is accurate, I would vote NO!

Don't beleive anything in that trash pile called a video. That was an exerpt from a movie done by Micheal Moore called "Bowling for Columbine". That movies only purpose was to blame the Columbine shooting on the NRA, Republicans, Christians, and white people.

Just like everything else Micheal Moore makes, purely one sided.

  4. i'm really getting to a quick boiling point with this also. Each election cycle it seems to get worse and worse.

No one says anything about themselves anymore and what they bring to the table, it's all about "Exposing the lies" of the other person running.

If you beleived everything that they all said, then there would be no one to vote for, they all would be criminals and cheats and.....well..huh...maybe their all right after all!!!! :p

  5. we had three strange men show up in my neighborhood last night and they were driving really slow past my house then they stopped and two of the guys got out at my neighbors house with two bags that was very strange they only stop at my neighbors house when they left I ask her what were they selling she said nothing they were donating food to people did she want some did anyone else in Hiram have that happen to them?

was this near the road close to the railroad tracks? Forgot the name of the road, but it intersects with Angham rd?

If so that was some of the young men from my church. Don't be alarmed. I don't know why they skipped some houses, they were suppose to go to all the houses down there.

The movie theather on Hwy 278 had a canned food drive a few weeks ago and they had almost 3,000 cans of food donated, so they called the Hiram PD to ask who could distrubute this amount of food and they told them about my church, St. James Community church. We do a lot of that.

So they gave us almost 3,000 cans of food that we are trying to find people who need it, so last night we went giving it away.

Hope, we didn't give anyone the wrong impression...maybe next time we do this we should have signs on the cars or something like that letting everyone know we are from a church.

  6. At the expense of . . . ?

I mean, doctrinal distinctives? Hierarchal directives? Translation of the text?

Denominations are not a bad thing as they relate what is distinctive about each church or group of churches. When we get into non-cooperation, that is another matter entirely.

Not disagreeing with you about the non-cooperation part, but set aside the distinctives? We would have to set aside soul competantcy, don't you think? :D

What I mean to say is hard to type out.

I'm not saying everyone should be the same; God loves diversity, God made us all different and we all worship/learn/teach/preach differently.

But as long as we all agree on the essintials, all else is non-essintial. The problem is too many churches turn the non-essintials into essintials.

Edited to say: I didn't mean to overide this topic into my own hijack. Sorry.

  7. Is it just random vandalism or is it a school prank type vandalism. Like, did Hiram or PCHS come over and do something to it?

I graduated from McEachern and we have the big Indian as our maskot and it was all the time getting stuff done to it by other schools.

  8. well, instead of being seperated into baptist and catholic, etc....why don't we just become unified as the Body of Christ. The One, Universal Church.

Satan (and men) have divided the church for too long. Let's go back to the church fathers in Acts and the first centuries and see what they think about the church being divided into denominations.

Wow. Now that's how you shut down a topic... Just mention something about uniting the Body of Christ...Wham! No more topic!!!

  9. Yeah, but now Mikey has all sorts of visions of grandeur & is posting all the Catholic stuff. Dang. It really ain't fair --- they have an extra 1400 years on the Baptists & they get to drink, so they have a lot more stories to tell. :D

  10. Hmmmm, (looking around) . . . sarcasm. . . sarcasm. . .

Am I just missing that one in my Effective Witnessing Tools Bag? Maybe there just wasn't room for it? I don't know.

Well, I will just wait to see how well it works before I decide on whether I need it or not.

Yeah, I'd pass on that one too. doesn't seem to be working, yet some really love throwing it out there over and over, again and again.

I've yet to see it work, especially on pcom.

  11. I couldn't vote, either. So here's my write-in vote:

People are the highest order of animals. The good thing is that there's a higher brain function. The bad thing is that the higher brain function allows us to forsee our own mortality - even from youth. So our brain goes to work in response to the "fight or flight" thing, and contrives an escape scenario in which we don't really die - just change forms.

People a long time ago saw that there was a universal fear of death and that social order could be manipulated by perpetuating the fantasy of an afterlife. The fact that a fundamental flaw in reasoning has to be overlooked is inconsequential when it comes to matters of the fantasy.

But the truth is that there is no supernatural realm. No realm, no inhabitants. There's no one able to read the minds of all of the billions on earth at the same time. And no mechanism for recording the movements of every human being on earth 24/7. No one is inside your head, reading your private thoughts. And no one is always watching you. Anyone who believes that HAS to be just a bit paranoid.

So the bottom line is that it's our MORTALITY that should be the binding agent of all humanity. Because none of us will get out of this alive.

not trying to start anything or nothing, just voice of reason....

How do you know your right? If you think the original poster is wrong, how do you know that your theory is right?

But the truth is that there is no supernatural realm.

How do you know that this is fact? What evidence do you have?

  12. Are you judging? Don't you think that, in some cases, it would be best to ask a person to leave if they continue sinning?

A few years ago, we had a man that was raised in the church, but was asked, by the Elders, to leave. He had served as a Deacon and was just elected Elder when we found out about his life outside the Church. He was into drugs, drinking, and bringing men in to take turns with his wife against her will.

He became very sick and we found out he had cancer so there was a benefit singing to help him with the bills. After the singing, we found out that he didn't have cancer. He has AIDS.

Do you think this person was serious about his walk with Jesus? How can a person claim to be a Christian and continue to live like this?

So, in cases like this, it's better that they are asked to leave the Church.

    Cardie,

I think it is proper to address this situation, but in a different way. If this is a person in a position, first it should be asked of them to step down. When you are in a postion like a deacon, elder, pastor, things should be done to address the situation, but that still doesn't mean to kick them out of church.

Seriously though, I can sit on sunday mornings and count the number of people I konw for a fact that don't take their walk with Christ seriously. In fact I can point out the ones that most likely were in bars the night before, but that's no reason to send them packing.

And going back to the situation you spoke of, seems like it's more than just immoral acts going on, but illegal acts as well. That should be turned over to the proper authorities for them to handle the legality of the situation.

  13. Can churches "out" sinners as a part of religious exercise?

Wow. What a thought! Outing sinners.....my question...Who's gonna be left to be the church???

First, what sins do consider to be worse than others???

And if we are going to be outing sinners that are in the church, how does that help us bring sinners INTO the church to receive forgiveness and salvation??

Is not the church the exact place a sinner should be?

    Matthew 7:1-5

1"Stop judging others, and you will not be judged. 2For others will treat you as you treat them. Whatever measure you use in judging others, it will be used to measure how you are judged. 3And why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own? 4How can you think of saying, `Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,' when you can't see past the log in your own eye? 5Hypocrite! First get rid of the log from your own eye; then perhaps you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye.

  14. Were you raised in one faith but now call yourself something else? Were you raised a Christian but now you consider yourself a Pagan, Atheist, Agnostic, or something else? If so have you ever asked yourself, "am I mad at the God of my youth?" I've noticed here on Pcom and in the world at large, there are a lot of folks who seem to take every opportunity to point out the negative in the bible, in the theology, and the lives of people of their former faith. Maybe it's time for some self-examination. Are you mad?

    C.W.

Wow, what a great question. I look forward to seeing the responses.

Myself, being raised in a Christian family, I now am raising my child in a Christian home. I have questioned my God many times, in fact continually....but for me I'm alwaysed pointed right back in his direction and my faith in my God is always stronger afterward. I am now in process of Ordination. I still love the God of my Youth...although He hasn't changed, the way I see him has.

As for others who have converted from Christianity to something else. I wonder many times....Is it because they lost faith in God or because they lost faith in the people that follow God???

  15. Looks like they are finally reading the bible and putting into action what the bible teaches--

Kill those who are not Christian or Jewish:

You must kill those who worship another god. Exodus 22:20

Kill any friends or family that worship a god that is different than your own. Deuteronomy 13:6-10

Kill all the inhabitants of any city where you find people that worship differently than you. Deuteronomy 13:12-16

Kill everyone who has religious views that are different than your own. Deuteronomy 17:2-7

Kill anyone who refuses to listen to a priest. Deuteronomy 17:12-13

Kill any false prophets. Deuteronomy 18:20

Any city that doesn’t receive the followers of Jesus will be destroyed in a manner even more savage than that of Sodom and Gomorrah. Mark 6:11

Jude reminds us that God destroys those who don’t believe in him. Jude 5

Ignorance is bliss. Christians should not practice free inquiry nor socialize with non Christians:

Don’t associate with non-Christians. Don’t receive them into your house or even exchange greeting with them. 2 John 1:10

Shun those who disagree with your religious views. Romans 16:17

Paul, knowing that their faith would crumble if subjected to free and critical inquiry, tells his followers to avoid philosophy. Colossians 2:8

Judge other religions for not following Christ:

Whoever denies “that Jesus is the Christ” is a liar and an anti-Christ. 1 John 2:22

Christians are “of God;” everyone else is wicked. 1 John 5:19

    The non-Christian is “a deceiver and an anti-Christ” 2 John 1:7

Anyone who doesn’t share Paul’s beliefs has “an evil heart.” Hebrews 3:12

False Jews are members of “the synagogue of Satan.” Revelations 2:9, 3:9

Here are my two personal favorites:

Everyone will have to worship Jesus -- whether they want to or not. Philippians 2:10

A Christian can not be accused of any wrongdoing. Romans 8:33
