  1. Sara Babb Park has 4 Lighted Tennis Courts, 2 Baseball/Softball Fields, 12 Horseshoe Courts, Swimming Pool, 2 Picnic Shelters and 1 Tot Lot. .

Phone: 770-443-8110 - Address: 216 Recreation Dr., Dallas, GA 30132

I pulled that info off a Georgia Parks site - I used to take my girls there during summer. Don't know if it is still open but it was pretty nice a few years ago.

I've been to b-day parties at Roundtree Recreation - it's indoor but I think they have public swim times.

  2. I own a martial arts school and run said business - also share the rearing and raising duties of two beautiful daughters with my husband of nearly 20 years.

Prior to opening my school in Hiram, I worked for a brief time at Sir Speedy Printing in Atlanta, which was good as I learned a lot about layout, advertising and printing that has helped me as a business owner.

Before good ol' Sir Speedy I worked for nine years as a karate instructor, and team leader for Chuck Norris' KickStart Foundation in Houston, TX. At that time it was called Kick Drugs Out of America and my husband and I were both karate instructors there. We taught karate as P.E. in inner city public schools and between us produced all but three of the first 20 black belts in the program - six of whom are now instructors for the program. As a Supervisor with KickStart I lead a team of 30+ instructors with over 3,000 students.

My husband is from the Powder Springs area and I graduated from DCHS so when we moved back here for family reasons, we ended up in Paulding and really enjoy it here. We opened our martial arts school in Hiram in January of 2003.

Other jobs I have had include: Aviation Electronics Technition in the USN; Paraprofessional for the program that is now called the Haven Academy for Douglas County Schools, T-shirt screen printer, Gofer level work for metal building construction, remodeling, deck building and concrete work, and I've even been a janitor at DFCS.

  3. Ok, so I've never even heard of a foam party. I had to surf the web to find out more about what they are. I guess I really missed out on the spring break/clubbin' thing.

I feel kind of cheated

  4. I've been using pcom and facebook for about a month. I did a commerce membership here but haven't run a banner yet. On Facebook I haven't done any paid ads, just made a public page and am using the internet version of word of mouth - I post comments on my public page, my students comment on comments or pictures and then their friends see our page.

I think it's too early to tell how successful pcom has been for me - the price is definately good and I'm getting an opportunity to know the community at large. I have had a few inquiries about my business already and I haven't taken full advantage of the business news section yet.

Facebook seems to be most effective with keeping my current students - retention, rather than drawing new customers, but again, it's too early to tell.

My regular website has been up for years and it gets regular hits, and I get regular calls and emails off of it so I think in time this is going to be a great addition for me.

  5. We have a pretty strong pitching staff right now and needed the outfield beefed up. It's sad to see Tom Glavine go but if we are serious about getting back to the top they have to make the right moves in the right places. JMO as an absolutely avid (rabid) :D Braves fan - winning or losing - but winning is better.

  6. That stinks.

I don't really know your situation but I can see by your signature line that you won't let it keep you down - eventually you'll find some way to make grape juice out of this. Maybe then you can ferment it and have a glass of wine ;) .

  7. Mention Paulding.com for $25 off the full day camp price.

During martial arts instruction at this year's camp students will learn self-defense techniques and strategies that compliment the Child Predator Awareness Program we are teaching.

  8. Does anyone know if there are any martial arts centers in the Dallas/Hiram area?

Of course if I don't come on for a couple of days someone asks for a Martial Arts School. :o

I own a martial arts school in Hiram. I'm pretty new to posting on pcom but have been in the same location for 6 1/2 years. Prior to that my husband and I worked for Chuck Norris' KickStart Foundation in Houston, TX.

I'd love to give you info on my school and the programs we offer for adults and children. PM me, call the number below or go the website and fill out a free tuition request and you can try us out for a whole month with no obligation and it really is free - no purchase required to do the free trial. Most places won't give you that much time - but we think that gives us time to really get you excited about learning the martial arts either for yourself or for your children.

If you are shopping around for a school, please keep ours in mind and come by for a tour. I'll upload some pictures so you can get an idea of what our facility looks like and you can see some of our students training.
