  1. Now that we've got the whole world calling the Water Dept.......how about coming off the name of the Doctor.

Post his name and number so we can all call his office and verify the OP's story.

Oh, and has anyone called the CDC yet?

  2. Wow! I go away to Chicago for a week ...to the Supreme Assembly for the International Order of Rainbow for Girls...and obviously I missed yet another steamy anti-masonry thread. Not that I'm sorry I missed it. I'm actually glad to see other Masons, Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls and their families here! :D

  3. I would love to see a picture! If not, were you satisfied with the outcome? Was the transfer bold?

I took a picture, but can't find my cable to connect the camera to the computer. Sorry. Anyhow, we did t-shirts of the seven dwarfs with their names on $3.99 white t-shirts from Michaels and they look terrific! Very bold colors. Just make sure you follow the directions of using a hard surface instead of a regular ironing board and a pillowcase over the top and they'll turn out just fine.

  4. I am really sorry. We just went through this last Thursday. I had to put my almost 11 year old "baby" to sleep...the cats are still looking for her. I'm truly sorry for what you all are going through. :(

  5. I'm looking forward to it. :D

We'll be there with a food booth and a craft booth selling tote bags, and the best-ever pot scrubbers (made from tulle) and dish cloths made from Peaches & Cream 100% cotton yarn.

    Come on out...it'll be fun!

    See you there TFaust9197

  6. Thanks, everyone. Sorry I didn't reply to these messages sooner; I was en-route to Wisconsin yesterday...Dad had a quadruple bypass, so I'm here to help with his care for a while.

When the girl jumped out of her car to come after me, she was threatening to call the cops on me. LOL I'm thankfully laughing about it now, but my blood was really boiling when it happened!

By the way, I'm 5'7" and my daughter is 5'11", and they were driving some sort of 4-door sedan, so there's NO way we were too short for them to see. ;)

If that girl actually smacked me I think I would have smacked her back and then I would have ended up in jail because I'm not sure if she was even 18. I don't think I've ever been so angry at stupidity, but I guess that's what happens when somebody almost hits your 5'11" baby girl.

  7. For the incredibly friendly people at WalMart Friday evening who almost ran over me and my daughter in the parking lot when they decided to back their car up in a one way parking aisle after they went past us and we crossed behind their vehicle, then proceeded to tell US to watch where we're going before we get hit, then after I told them to watch where they're driving before they hit someone, proceeded to tell me that I need to learn the law, jumped out of their car and came after me, called me and my daughter some few choice words, including chanting "White Hoes" repeatedly...here's a paragraph you ought to read: (Yes, I realize that was a run-on sentence.)

From Georgia Department of Driver Services 2008 Driver's Manual, Page 96:

Always Remain Alert for Pedestrians When Driving

Look for pedestrians on both sides of the street when approaching intersections,

when turning, or near schools, parks, bus stops and other places people are likely

to walk. Look behind your car for children or other pedestrians before backing up in

    driveways and parking lots.

We were watching where we were going. You passed us going down a one way aisle. When you threw your car into reverse, you didn't once turn your head to see if somebody might be behind you. You have NO business backing up down the one way of the aisle in the parking lot. Furthermore, if we hadn't been watching where we were going and jumped out of the way, you would have hit us for sure and I'm guessing by your attitudes, you would have proceeded to curse at us and probably would have kicked us even if we were down!

Once again, Have a Nice Day! :)

  8. WalMart and Home Depot sell an ant killer by Combat (Ant Gel). They make it for roaches too. You put it wherever you see them coming in. They absolutely LOVE this stuff, eat it and take it back to the next, so it kills them all. Get the actual gel and not the bait in the container...those don't work.

Edited to add: We told our exterminator who comes out for the termite inspection we were using this and if there was something else and he said that's the best product on the market.

  9. If you do get the SSI disability too, be careful! Hubby got it only for the first year he was paralyzed because he's worked full time since then. They gave him an increase after 3 months and he went to them and told them he thought they were giving him too much. They said they weren't, that was the amount he was entitled to. Three years later, they sent him a letter that they overpaid him and he owed $10,000.00. Well, needless to say, he didn't have an extra $10,000.00 laying around, so he tried to resolve it over a 10 year period to no avail...we paid them some of it, then they took our tax return the past 7 years to get the rest. It's finally paid off, but what a nightmare!

  10. Let me first start by saying that both of my children were immunized and I never thought twice about questioning it...ummm...over 15 years ago. Now, when the younger one got her first round of DPT, she had a severe reaction (high fever, cried and cried for two days and she never cried). My doctor didn't hesitate to remove the "P", pertussis part of the vaccination, from future doses because that's the most likely cause of the reaction. As a result, she's not protected against whooping cough. Does that bother me? Not ONE bit.

Now, fast forward to 2008...IF I had an infant today, I'm not sure whether or not I'd choose to immunize. Times have changed; our world is changing rapidly around us. We no longer "go with the flow" just because that's the norm. I DO question doctors; they're only human.

Do a quick google search on "what's in a vaccine". You'll be amazed and somewhat disgusted...I sure am. The thing that brought it to my attention was my nephew and his wife having a baby. They started researching and haven't yet had Julia immunized because of what they've found. They're still researching and debating, but I'm glad they're questioning the way things are done. Modern medicine is wonderful, but definitely not foolproof, and definitely not as safe and harmless as the general public thinks it is.

  11. I saw those books at work today! Those were the books I was talking about in the OP, actually. We have two shelves of knitting books, but go figure the one with a name like that would catch my attention. Guess I should probably pick one up tomorrow. I'm a visual learner though, so I'm not real sure if it'll work.

I think it will...the pictures and images are pretty good. I looked at several different books when I was hunting in the bookstore and that one seemed the best. I'd hide the cover so nobody could see the title when I was in public. B)

As it turns out, my sister who lives in Illinois bought the same book and we never even talked about it! She does all other types of crafts too and thought the book was terrific.

  12. I was in the same boat until a couple of years ago...could do everything but knit and couldn't pick it up from hubby's grandma. I bought a book called "Stitch and B*tch"...excellent instruction and images...I am finally able to knit! (I still prefer crochet, though.)

    Good luck!

  13. lilgallowsmama,

Best wishes that you can do this! My grandfather died from emphysema because of smoking; it was so incredibly sad to watch hiim suffer. I pray you can pull this off not only for you, but for those who love you. It kills me to see my brothers smoke when they know how much gramps suffered. Be stronger than the addiction! :)

  14. I'm proud of my Masonic heritage. And if I'm ever able to do it I'd love to join a Co-Masonry Lodge (men and women together).
Ahhh...interesting SoapMom...I'm not sure how I feel about this. I heard discussion about this a few weeks ago and I guess there's actually a Co-Masonry Lodge here in the U.S. somewhere now. As you probably know, there have been Co-Lodges in Germany for years. I imagine the entire U.S. will have them before Georgia does, though...that's another discussion, right? ;)
If it is just the secret thing that is blowing everyone's panties up let me inject this. How many women have ever sat in on a Baptist deacons meeting? How many have ever read all the scriptures pertaining to be a deacon? Talk about some secrecy.
That's a huge problem feelip...fear of the unknown can be paralyzing. ;)
  15. please see post #1I suggested that you find out the percentage of contributions given to Shriners that then go to hospitals. In the link, it stated that 8.2 billion has been spent since inception to operate the hospitals - if you learned that 100 billion had been donated to shriner funds in that time frame would it change your perception of the charity? (I pulled the 100B off the top of my head)
ANY involvement I've had with the Shriners has been 100% profit going to the Shriners Hospitals. These men will, however, pull money from their OWN pockets to support their youth organizations. You couldn't possibly change my perception of the charity because I know first hand how wonderful it is.
Additionally, last year, Georgia Rainbow had a few small fundraisers and saved pennies for a year and managed to earn $10,000 that went directly to the Shriners Hospitals. ALL $10,000...100%! Raised by less than 250 young ladies across the state between the ages of 11 and 20.
Replying to my own post, yes...odd, I know, but their goal was $10,000 and they actually raised $20,000! Yes, all $20,000 went directly to the Shriners Hospitals.
  16. I am Christian, my entire family is Christian. My husband is a Mason and a Shriner, we are both members of the Eastern Star. My girls are both Rainbow Girls. You can be a Christian and be involved. Masonry is NOT a religion and I believe this has been discussed in other threads here on PCOM before. Here in GA, you it is not likely you will find a Mason that is not a Christian because after all, this area is primarily Christian. Again, it is NOT a religion. The principles of all the orders revolve around morality and community service. These groups give so very much to their local communities as well as national organizations.

Anyone can write anything they want about any organization. Any fraternity or sorority can be considered a "secret society". They ALL have "secrets". You may read through whatever you like and believe whatever you like, but I certainly to hope that you don't judge others by their beliefs. I don't think God put any of us here to judge anyone else.
