  1. Yes that is what they were told today and I need her good directions because she is only 17 and I do not like her having to look at street signs. Do they not have a field or something? This is softball. Is there any land marks I can tell her to be looking for at either road?

not particulary, just look for subdivisions called Burnt Hickory Estates ... One on the left and one on the right. both same name. just as you are passing these along with a church on the right called Burnt Hickory Methodist

start looking for a rd that kinda veers off to the right. Thats Dabbs Bridge.

If you pass Dabbs Bridge, go 1 mile and on the right will be a store called Stone Craft. A old building with a green roof and turn here to the right onto Harmony Grove. When you turn right onto Harmony Grove go 3/4 mile, around a curve or two, and it will be on your left. It has a sign there, with a LONG driveway type looking road.

    Good luck. Drive Safely.

  2. hwy 61 north from town, go approx. 12 miles just as you pass Burnt Hickory Estates , start looking for Dabbs Bridge RD. on your Right. Turn right onto Dabbs Bridge and go just a little piece 1/2 mile or less to four way stop sign.

Turn left on Harmony Grove Church Rd. You will see the school across the fields as you are turning onto Harmony Grove Church Rd. Its easy. A pleasant place to be.

  3. 'FreeBird' post='1514042' date='Sep 18 2007, 07:51 PM']Stop by and talk with the SRO. I'm sure the officer can let you know the real story that goes on at that school. The school administration stifles the SO's ability to remove the problems from that school. I'm sure there are other schools in the same category. Now, back to the OP?Thank you FreeBird, I think you know exactly where I am coming from. Thanks for being a kind neighbor.

  4. Check out Richardson's proposal to remove property tax and replace taxing all services with the 4% state tax. I spoke with a friend that is a state rep over the weekend about the proposal and it seems like a good way to remove some of the tax burden from the property owner.

Yes, I would love to find out more about the proposal that Richardson is doing. The other day on comcast cable county channel he was talking about it, but I missed the biggest part. It was about doing away with PROPERTY TAXES!! Comsumption tax was what he was talking about, and from what little I heard, it would balance taxes for everyone. Land owners, renters, and so on, would be paying their FAIR share.

yes, from what I am seeing here in this pitiful situation, we are going to have to STAND UP, and keep our voices heard, I too have a child in this crummy situation, living in the north end of Paulding, and not able to enjoy being at the new school (North Paulding High), because they are only going to offer in the year 2008-2009 classes for 9th and 10th grades, he misses this by one year, THAT STINKS....... INSTEAD, he is being bused across the county to the stinking PAULDING COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL, with allllll the CRUD of this county. I believe, the board of education, and all other officials, of this county needs someone to get a grip on these OUT OF CONTROL officials for our county.

COMSUMPTION TAX, WHERE ARE YOU???? lets all see where this may help us .

  5. Does anyone know of who picks up donations from the home (like clothes, toys, misc. stuff)?? When we lived in our old house, I think the Southeastern Paralyzed Vets had a donation truck that came around every so often but unfortunately I can not remembr the #. Does anyone have this # or another??

PM me or leave a reply :)

I know this doesn't help about having donations picked up, But when we moved to Paulding County, I had that same problem. I called different churches in the area and they all referred me to the Thrift Store in Dallas. From what I gathered they sell their doantions really cheap to the public to pay expences but they also Give to battered women , burned out families and such other needy. In my humble opionion, This is a way to help OUR community/needy families in our area.

You have to drop off there, but it is worth knowing it is for OUR area. They are located in Dallas on the right just before you go under railroad tracks just before the hospital.

    Hope this works for you.

  6. Wishing everyone good luck. With our son, he has always made a's and b's. But when he got into the eighth grade, because of the crct that if he scored low on certain parts of it, he could be held back, I began to give him a certain amount for A's on test. Then when report card comes, I double what he has collected. What I did was to copy a certain bill in black and white ink from my printer then cut them just like money, then when he shows me an A, he gets one of these fake bills. Then this way he is really working on those test. Sometimes, he even has to pay me a certain amt if he makes a c. I do collect... He is in high school now, and has made straight A's since then. I am broke, but what the heck. Its for a good cause.

Then when he gets his pay, I collect about 40% and buy a bond in his name. He gets to spend the rest.

    This has worked for us.

Wow, where can people get this kind of info?

  8. Can someone give me the phone number there. I need to call them for info.

I don't have health insurance. It is not offered at the full-time job I work at. I have a very sore throat and headache and it is probably sinus. Have been down with it for a week now and taking sinus meds are barely getting me by, not to mention feeling drugged up.

I am not rich by any means and after they tell me how much it will cost me will determine if I can go.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry you are so sick, get well soon!! We use Urgent Care in Cartersville alot!! They are great especially Dr. Wigley. North 41 past Walmart just past the State Patrol office. Phone 770-382-0029

  9. He stated he couldn't say much about the schools, as that is a school board function.  They will get $230,000 or so from this PRD for the School Board to go out and get land.  It appears if they try to get raw land from the devloper, it's almost always unsuitable for a school.

There is a Fire Station and perhaps a Library planned for Harmony Grove Church Rd in front of the entrance to Bentwater.

Sounds like it is all staying on Dabbs Bridge and Harmony Grove. Thanks for the info again. I am sure you will be filled with lots of questions by tomorrow. Keep up the good work.

  10. Hickory Heights Baptist Church was full tonight as they hosted a "Re-Zoning Awareness Meeting" about the proposed PRD on Dabbs Bridge Rd and other developments in the area.  Jerry Shearin, Paulding County Commission Chairman and Scott Green the assistant Director of the Paudling County Department of Transportation were on hand to both describe the changes and (bravely) take questions from the crowd.

The Chairman started with an excellent description of the process that a PRD such as this has to go thru to get approved at both the State and County levels, using the BWWI project as an example.  This was very informative.

Scott Green then described some of the traffic studies done on the road in the area and the planned improvents to be made over the next 10-15 years.  These include the widening of 61 and Dabbs Bridge Rd to 4 lanes, the straightning of Harmony Grove Church Rd and the addition of an I-75 Interchange at Third Army Rd with connections to Cedercrest Rd.

A lively question and answers session followed with many good questions being asked and the crowd being well behaved and keeping the discussion within proper limits most of the time.

Jerry and Scott then stayed after to discuss items one on one with people until some time after I left.  :)

A video was taken of the first hour of the meeting and may be made available on Pcom if Pubby and I can get the formats figured out.

Many thanks to HHBC for supporting this meeting.

Thank you Mr.Sound Guy for the info from all of Burnt Hickory, sounds like you are on top on what is going on and what will be in the future for us here at Burnt Hickory.

Can you please tell us if there was any mention of any schools, especially high schools mentioned in this meeting?

I would love for my child to be able to go to school closer to home than Paulding County High. With him being at Moses now, I would hope for that in with all of the growth that we are going to experience.

  11. Good Going Sharon!! I am glad you responded to the rachet jawers that don't know what they are talking about.. Sometime it is too easy just to assume and bark out your mouth when you don't know what you are talking about. Wishing you the best. Tell Mr. T. that D. D and E said hello and we are glad either of you weren't hurt any worse than you were.. See ya. The W'S
