    How is acceptance determined?

Admission decisions are based on a COMPETITIVE process using a GPA calculation of your cumulative coursework (see admissions criteria), and your TEAS test scores. Top candidates will then be invited to interview, during which personal qualities important to nursing will be considered. Longevity at Kennesaw State University may also be taken into consideration.

No decisions will be made until after the final date of application deadline and applicants will be notified by mail of their School of Nursing acceptance.

  2. Good morning everyone. This is Elliesgranny posting under Malibu's log-in..(oops!!) Anyway, Malibu had some surgery on Monday and I'm taking the day off work to help her out with Ellie. Hey, it's a dirty job but someone's gotta do it!!! Hope everyone has a great day!!

  3. Oh, I know. I'm glad she wants to be with Ellie when she's not working. I just like to tease her about it. :p

You can have her for the rest of the week!! Nights, too!!! ;)

She has given me her cold and I feel awful. I called in to work tonight b/c I couldn't sleep at all last night from being sick, and there's no way she's letting me get any rest today. So, would you want me being your nurse if I'm contagious and sleep-deprived?! I think not!!! :pardon:

    Back to the topic:

I'm sorry you are stressing out, Catater. I can completely relate. I do believe my job keeps me sane, though! I get to go to work at night and leave Ellie with hubby, and during the day she goes to daycare so I can sleep for work. Some days I joke that I'm gonna drop her off at daycare even though I'm not working!!!

  4. What makes it even better is when...a nurse walks in and says your LisaG huh?

 Yeah!! I was expecting you that morning anyway, but your baby had other plans!!!! If you hadn't come in early, I wouldn't have gotten to meet you!

  5. To answer the question about a NICU...

Tanner does not have a NICU. We have a level 1 nursery. We pretty much only keep term, well-babies. So, really sick babies do get transferred out if they need more extensive care than we are able to provide here. BUT, we are fully capable of stabilizing a newborn after birth to prepare them for transfer. Several of our nurses have worked in NICU's, so they've had wonderful experience with sick newborns. Also, we have pediatricians that come in for the sick babies until they are transferred out. If the mom is healthy and having a normal, healthy pregnancy, a NICU isn't totally necessary. If I believed that, then I wouldn't have chanced delivering here at Tanner myself (and neither would the other nurses pregnant here)!! I used to work at a bigger hospital in L&D, and I was not happy there at all!! No way would I have delivered my daughter there!!! ;)

I am very happy to hear so many positive experiences at Tanner. That lets me know that we are doing a great job!!!

If anyone is interested in touring the maternity ward, just call 770-456-3168. We don't schedule tours, b/c we only have three labor rooms. If they are full, we aren't able to show them. You can call to find out if we are really busy or if a room is available, or you can always just drop by to check us out!! We'd be very happy to give you a tour!!

  6. Hello!!!

I'm a labor and delivery nurse at Tanner Villa Rica and I also recently delivered my first child there. I think it says a lot when there have been a total of 8 nurses pregnant on my floor within the last year and 5 of us have given or plan to give birth here. And the ones who didn't deliver here had to go elsewhere due to insurance or distance. The staff is very friendly (a perk for being in a smaller hospital) and we are all very qualified to care for you and your baby. We have three doctors who deliver here, two are female and one is male. We also have pediatricians that will visit your baby in the hospital.

If you have any questions, please ask or PM me!!! :)

    Ashley

A better question to ask is "Will your Doctor go to Tanner to deliver your baby?" Most Doctors won't drive that far, and if your Doctor is not affiliated with that Hospital, he can't do anything anyway.

ETA: Are you considering changing Dr's?? Most Dr's won't take a new patient past so many weeks, maybe 8-12 wks???

Our physicians do take new patients up until they birth. ;)

  7. Karen, you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers...

You might not remember me, but I used to date someone that was close to your family (PM me if you're curious). You guys were always so sweet to me, so I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you.

  8. Into the 4th book of the "Outlander" series by Diana Gabaldon. Excellent story of a time traveler. Couldn't put it down!!!

I LOVE this series!!! I am dying for her to finish the latest one. I don't think it will even be out for at least another year... :(

  9. He is soooo cute!!! I can't wait to see him in person tonight when I come back to work!

It was great to meet you this morning. I wish I could have been your nurse, but I already had a patient when you came in. Get you some rest, and let me know if you need anything. I'll be at work tonight and tomorrow night!!!

    Ashley

Thanks guys! We are still doing well, had a flow of visitors this morning but now I am alone with baby cuddling ;) My friend ran to get us some movies to watch hehehe and get her some clothes and pillow to spend the night. I called to check on hubby adn Blake and they were playing with legos, watching Shrek and resting themselves :D

Hey Malibu06 I see you down there. THANKS you and the other ladies in L&D rocked this morning :D

    Awwwww, thanks!!! ^_^

  10. Like my Mom said, Mrs. Roberts was the secretary at Hiram Elementary the entire time I was there. She got to know us pretty well, considering I was one of those children who always went to the office to call home. She was such a sweet lady!!! Her family are in my thoughts and prayers. :(
