  1. Ever wonder why you’re not getting more calls or business from your website? Unfortunately, your website may not have important components that search engines like Google are looking for.

There is an easy way to find out what your website may be lacking. Go to http://websitegrader.com/ to find out.

Simply, enter your website address (example: www.MetroAtlantaLandscape.com) and your email address. Then, click on the “Generate Report” button.

After a few moments of processing, a new page will come up with your ‘grade’. Just like when you were in school, this grade is based on a 100 point scale. So, if your website score is a 77, basically you have a ‘C’.

If you have a low grade, try not to be too disappointed. The good news is that the same report will give you information on how to improve your website. (This week I met with an Atlanta, GA business who’s website score was a 7. So, if you got a low grade, you are not alone!)

In the section below your’re overall website grade, there are approximately 19 sections that explain your grade. The areas of your website that need improvement will be highlighted in a pink box with a red exclamation mark. Use this information to make improvements to your site. Then, a few days after you make changes, go back to websitegrader.com and check it again to see if your grade has improved.

If you got a low score, don’t understand the suggestions in the report, or just don’t have the time or patience to deal with it, please give us a call at 404-429-1651. We will sit down with you and go over the report and explain (in English) how you can improve your website. We offer this as a FREE service! If you don’t have the time, patience, or technical skills to make the improvements, we would be happy to take care of it for you.

  2. One thing Google and other search engines look for is how many incoming links you have for your website. This means that the search engine is looking to see how many other sites have your website address where people can click on a link that goes to your website.

One of the best ways to increase the number of links coming TO your website is through your friends, customers and other businesses you work with. Here’s how:

    - First, I highly suggest having a web page on your site that lists other businesses that you would recommend to your customers. You can name this page ‘Recommended Businesses’, ‘Businesses I Trust’, ‘Local Business Resources’, etc.

    - Next, talk to the businesses that you have listed on your recommendations page. Let them know that you have included them on your website with a link to their website.

    - Then, ask if they would be willing to do the same thing for you. Tell them or email them a specific phrase that you would like to use for the link. This phrase should include several of your most important keywords. (Keywords are the words that your customers would type into Google to find your business.) For an example, please see our Business Recommendations at

    - Finally, check their website to see if they have included a link to your business website. If not, follow up with them and ask when they expect to update their site with your information.

If you have a business that you would like to partner with in this way, but they don’t have a website, we can help! At SkyFire Designs, we specialize in working with small businesses that are just getting started or have never had a website before. Our flat-rate price of $50/page makes having a website affordable for almost any small business.

  3. I hosted the Girl Party a few weeks ago and got almost $70 off my Miche Order!!! From the party and the 1/2 price sale, I got 5 new shells for about $35!

So, if you've got a Miche Bag or want to get one, have a party! It's big fun, especially if you have it at Boutier Winery in Acworth!!

  4. Usually, you have between 2 and 6 SECONDS to grab the attention of someone viewing your website.

The first thing the viewer wants to know is if the website is for the type of product or service they were searching for. The second thing they determine is whether the company is serious and professional, which is based on the overall look and layout of the website.

If they stay on your site past the initial 2 to 6 seconds, you have a potential customer. Next, they are going to decide to contact you based on finding the information THEY want to know. “How much does it cost?” and “What do I get for that price?”

Many business owners make the mistake of talking about themselves and giving information they want the potential customer to know. This gives the message, “I think my business is great, and so should you.” In this case, it’s all about the business.

Potential customers or clients only want to know how your products or services are beneficial to them. So first answer the question, “What’s in it for you, the customer?”. Explain how your products or services meet their needs. Develop your content to show that you understand their needs and how you can meet them.

If you are having a hard time developing your website content or marketing materials specifically from the client’s point of view, get some help! At SkyFire Designs, we help you create your content based on the information your potential customers want to know. Content development comes standard with all of our websites, so you don’t have to worry about being charged more for copywriting.

And Angiecochran, no need to steal LPPT'S... I can may you an offer you can't refuse! Can you come up to the Ladies Day of Leisure this Saturday? I'll have the new releases, and if you can print off the Pcom coupon beforehand, you can get free long handles to go with your new purse! Also, they are offering some great prizes for the guests. Just somethin' to think about if you are in the area that day!

I can't wait to see the new shells this weekend!! WooHoo! :yahoo:

  6. FaceBook is a great FREE way to advertise your business! But, are you getting the most out of it?

Businesses often make the mistake of creating a business page on FaceBook. This is important if you want to pay FaceBook for advertising. But, when you post a new message on your wall, it doesn’t update any one elses page.

Instead, create a personal FaceBook page with your company name as the first and last name. For example:

First Name: WalMart Last Name: Superstore

FaceBook won’t let you use a generic email address like Info@WalMart.com. Instead, use a personal company email address like JaneDoe@WalMart.com or set up a new email address like Savings@Walmart.com.

Once you get your account set up, search and add your friends and customers. Their walls will be updated every time you post something about your business. This gives you the maximum exposure that you’re looking for!

  7. Google local business listings are excellent FREE advertisement for businesses!

A local business listing appears when you search for something and include a city and state in your search. (Example: Chiropractor, Dallas GA) You will see a map with markers of those types of businesses. You will also see where other people have left reviews about the individual businesses.

So how do you get your business on the map?

All of the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.) have local business listings. But, since Google is still the most used, I would suggest creating your listing with them first. They call their service ”Google places”

To create a local business listing for your company, you will first have to create an account with Google. When you create your account, you do not have to sign up for a Google email account (.gmail). Just use your primary email address to create the account. To create a Google account, go to google.

Once you’ve created your Google account, you can then create the Local Business Listing for your company. Search for “Google places”

When you are entering your company information, use a telephone number that you can answer immediately, if possible. At the end of the process of creating your listing, you will be asked to verify it. Google will either call you instantly with a numeric code or they will send a post card to the address you listed. The post card verification takes several days, if not weeks. If you use a phone number that you can answer at the time you’re creating your listing, you can verify the listing instantly.

That’s it! After about 24 hours, go to Google and search for your company (be sure to include the city and state). You should come up on a map with a marker just for you!

After you have listed your business with Google, you may want to go through the process again with Yahoo, Bing and other search engines. You will have to set up accounts with each of these companies in order to create your listing, but the FREE advertising is well worth the time and effort!

  8. What about Paulding Co- you do realize this is PAULDING.com?

Lemme know if it is open to Paulding Schools too~ Lord know we need all the help we can get here!

    Yes, I know it's Paulding. :D

We actually have a few PTA Presidents that we work with in Paulding who are helping us get in touch with other Paulding PTA Presidents. We're hoping some Paulding folks work in these other school districts or have friends or family who do.

We would like to get in touch with as many in-coming PTA Presidents (Vice-Presidents, Secretaries, Treasurers, etc.) as we can. We know that many of them try to plan their activities for the up-coming school year over the summer.

We normally provide Movie Nights/Movies Under the Stars for $250. (This includes our HUGE inflatable movie screen, projector, professional sound equipment and all set-up and take down.) Right now we're offering Movie Nights for $200 if they're booked with a $100 deposit before July 15, 2010. So, we're trying to get their contact information to let them know.

But, you do bring up a great point! :good: And we don't just work with schools. We also work with Churches, Neighborhoods/Home Owners Associations, Non-Profit Organizations, Sports Teams--ANYONE who would like to have a Movie Night.

So, here's what we'll do, just for YOU.... :D

Any p.commer who books a Movie Night for themselves (birthday party, family reunion, pool party, etc.) OR who refers us to an organization (School, Church, Neighborhood/Home Owners Association, Non-Profit Organization, Sports Team) who books a Movie Night, that p.commer gets a FREE Moonwalk Rental.

    How does that sound?

  9. Wired Up Entertainment is giving away a FREE Moonwalk Rental to the first p.commer who can give us a name, phone number and email address to a NEW (upcomming 2010/2011) PTA president at a school in Cobb, Cherokee, Douglas or Bartow County.

We will have to be able to contact the PTA president (via phone or email) before we give away the moonwalk rental.

We have 4 moonwalk rentals to give away; one for a contact in each county.

If you have a PTA President contact and you want a free moonwalk rental, please reply to this post AND pm us with the contact information.

    THANKS!
