  1. Wow, long thread.

Rather than re-hashing and going over everything again, I think I'll just cut and paste a post I made last night in response to someone else on a Yahoo board:

    Jilly:

And Moralistic--being excessively moralistic is a problem.

    RadiomanATL:

IMO, nothing wrong being moralistic, even "excessively" (thats subjective too).

The problem is when you want to force others to live by your own moral code, especially by using the force of the government. Certainly, using the government to enforce some morals is good. After all, murder is against morals and I think I like the government continuing to say that it is illegal.

My personal line in the sand is this: If the activity the other person is engaged in does not threaten, effect, or otherwise change my family's safety or finances, I don't care. They answer to God in the end. I don't answer for them.

Hence, I don't care if homosexuals are afforded the legal protections of a marriage by the government. God defines marriage, not government. So they can call it whatever they want. I don't care. Also, I am against blue laws. Dammit, I sometimes forget to purchase some beer for the game on Sunday, and I think I should be able to purchase it on that day. I'm also against helmet laws with a caveat: the person, if they are injured, doesn't effect my insurance rates through lawsuits aimed at others. There are many more examples.

I don't care if someone is moral, excessively moral, or immoral. Just don't try to use the power of the government to force your versions of the above on me (with the caveat that, again, some morals are certainly necessary--see murder example).

  2. I have a '98 Ford Ranger that I'll sell for $1,200. 100k miles. Needs some minor work though to get it running. New alternator/battery and a brake job. Bumper damage on front and rear ends (got caught in an I-75 sandwich). Also radio was stolen out of it. So no tunes.

Total cost, probably, after brake and alternator battery repairs: $2,000.

Total cost after the above and fixing the bumpers: $2,500 (Maybe less. I think the brackets that hold the bumpers on just need to be replaced cause they bent. Bumpers themselves are OK).

Don't know what kind of radio someone would want, so I can't include that. I do have the original radio though (it was an aftermarket that was stolen). Maybe $200 to fix the dash and put the original radio in? I dunno. Total price to get *all* of it fixed is probably $2700. Just complete guesses on my part though.

I'm getting rid of it instead of fixing it up because we have small children and you can't (or not supposed to) put them in front seats. Being a truck and all, thats all it has.

BTW: Blue book for it is $3000, and thats in "fair" condition (meaning bumps and bruises like the bumpers).

Don't have a digital camera or else I would take pics. E-mail if interested RadiomanATL@yahoo.com

(I'll post this in the "goods" forum as well)

  3. Mine signifies occupation, sex, and location.

Back when the internet and chatrooms were in their relative infancy (lo those 10 years ago) I got sick and tired of answering the a/s/l questions. So I came up with an ID that would answer everything but the age. If someone still asked, I would just laugh at them and give a sarcastic response.

  4. Actually, I think that's the Dade county voter's registration office.

They fould out he's a republican, so they won't let him in.

Cold blooded, reptillian, brain the size of a pea, sits around all day doing nothing but eating...yup, fits the bill.

(Sorry, but you left yourself WIDE open for that one).

  5. Clinton & Carter didn't give nuclear capabilities to NK. Common partisan misconception. They agreed to help NK get a nuclear reactor that could not be used to obtain bomb making materials. In exchange, NK would have to give up the work on their reactor that *could* be used to obtain bomb making materal.

Now, Clinton tried to make it seem like a whole lot more than it was, claiming that NK's gave up their nuclear program, etc. etc. etc., and he was FOS there and he knew it. All he succeeded in doing was stalling the NK's nuclear program by a few years. This wasn't a bad thing though. Clinton was hoping for political change to come in the years of the 'stall', he was playing for another factor to come into play. It wasn't bad simply because there is nothing we can do to stop NK from getting the bomb. Uranium occurs naturally there. All they lacked was the technology to do something with it. And they've been attempting to get that technology since the end of the Korean war. First from the Soviets and China, and then in the last 20 years from Pakistan and Iran, and I think India as well. NK getting the bomb is/was inevitable. Clinton just put it off for a few years, hoping that a regime change, or another factor, would come into play. Blame can go to Clinton for trying to 'play it up', by making it seem that he was stopping them when all he was doing was stalling them, but Clinton can't be blamed for NK becoming a nuclear country. They've done that all on their own.

  6. Z93 is owned by the same people as 650am.....write to them and get your Z93 back

Z93 is owned by Infinity. There is no 650 AM here in Atlanta. There is a WGST, which is 640, but they are owned by Clear Channel. There is also 680 The Fan, but they are owned by Dickey Broadcasting.

And writing to them will not do much good. Just a fact of life. They've invested way way way too much in Dave to turn away from it for at least 2 or 3 years.

  7. But it's not really a right. It's a private company. They can do as they wish, within the law. Private companies don't give 'rights' to people. The government does in some cases, and God does for others (if you believe that way). Private companies don't.

2 recourses left then: 1. Don't shop there, or 2. Demand the government do something. Many people have chosen option 1, and that truly is their 'right'. Demanding that the government do something doesn't sit well with me, nor with the vast majority of people here I imagine.

  8. Because the thought is that you can legally get married if you want, and then give the bennies to your now wife. Gays don't have that opportunity at the moment. Hence a program tailored more to them. I have a feeling though that an opposite sex bennies program isn't that far off for HD. Heck, they even have a health insurance program for workers pets, no matter what their sexual orientation
