  1. No matter what you show them, when they leave THEIR CHILD IS STILL right, right ,right...

Unfortunately, this is very true!!! I can't tell you how many times I have sat down with a parent and shown them ALL of the documentation that I have to back me up and the parent still says "She'll grow out of it" or "He's just a baby" (at 4 years old!) or my favorite, "He's a boy. That's just the way boys are!"

  2. Lots, and lots, and lots of evidence.

I don't ever go into a potentially confrontational encounter without having all of my ducks in a row, so to speak. I also try and procure a second opinion--another teacher who deals with the student, counselor, etc.

Above all, I try to keep an open mind, and realize that this is someone's baby that I'm talking about. Regardless of what the problem is, that parent wants the best for their child, and I want to do what I can to help them succeed. We are both wanting the same thing, and I have to be willing to do what I can to help them acheive it.

Exactally. If the parent is still thinks that there is no problem, there's not much else that you can do. Some parents no matter how much documentation you show them will still think that everything is fine.

  3. I can attest to her abilities...I can give her the VERY BEST references possible...She is super responsible and super GREAT/LOVING with kids! Plus your child would get a good educational start at a reasonable price! Much better than ANY daycare...The message was not paid for with any political or governmental funds

    Thanks for the reference! :D

  4. I am a former Pre-K teacher who will now be a stay at home mom!! I have 1 little girl that I am keeping in my home and am looking to find 1 or 2 more children to keep as well. So if you or anybody that you know needs childcare, let me know! My qualifications are as follows....

-I earned my Associates degree in Early Childhood Education in 2003 from Chattahoochee Tech College

-I have over 5 years of experience in the childcare field

-I have 3 years of experience as a lead teacher in Georgia Pre-K

-I have received on going teacher training classes during my 3 years of experience as a Georgia Pre-K teacher

-I am CPR and First Aid certified

    References available!!

Children will receive more individualized attention than they would in a daycare setting. They will be in a relaxed environment in the comfort of my home. As a teacher and a mother, I understand the importance of education and development of those important skills such as social and emotional, as well as gross and fine motor skills that children need for their future. I will strive to make my home a learning environment and not "just daycare" by offering story and music time as well as fun activities. Meals and snacks are included. Please let me know if you or anybody else is interested! Thanks!

  6. Hello everybody!!! Just getting the topic going again....I'll be staying at home as of May 28th. I have an 11 month old of my own and a 3 year old that I will be keeping. Never too soon to start looking for quality childcare!!!

Gaileespaz- No, I never taught in Yorkville.

  7. I'm not real sure where I need to post this....I guess I'll try it here!! LOL

So I'm planning to stay home for good starting this summer. I am a mother of an 11 month old little boy and although I want nothing more than to stay at home, I love my work as a teacher. I also want to be sure that my son is socialized with other children. I'm looking to find 2-3 children to keep in my home in Temple. My qualifications are as follows....

If you know someone who might be interested, please let me know. I will begin taking names and will be staying home beginning at the end of May. (When the school year is over) References are available upon request.

  8. I am in the process of turning my hobby into something more; however, in order to be successful, I need to build a good portfolio. If you need a photographer (or know of somebody who does), I am offering VERY reasonable prices for my services in order to collect a variety of photos for myself. (Of course, in order to take advantage of this, you would have to give me permission to use your photos in my portfolio and for any advertising that I may use them for, including the internet) If you are interested, please pm me with what you would like me to photograph and then we can discuss a price that works for both of us!!

Here are a few engagement shots from a photo shoot that I did today.

  9. It's always scary when a little one is running a fever. As long as you're staying on top of everything (temp. and meds.) and keeping in touch with your doctor, you're doing what you can. At my son's last doctors appointment, they actually said to take him in if his temp. reached 105 rectally!!! I thought that was really high for a baby! But keep in mind, a recal tempture is higher than the "normal tempture" anyway. Everytime I've checked my son's tempture, it's always around 99.5 or so. Again, you're doing what you should be by keeping in touch with his doctor! ;) I hope that he feels better.

  10. Check out colleges...I looked into it at West Georgia. They offer classes towards a degree but I'm sure that you could find something. Also, check into Wolf Camera. The classes that I'm taking cost money so it's not like it's one of those "learn to use your camera". They have classes for catching the right pose at the right angle and lighting, etc., etc.

  11. I have family members who are/were photographers so I've done a lot of studying of their work! Wolf Camera, however, offers free classes if you purchase a camera through them, which is also what I am doing!

  12. I'm just getting started and someday I hope to have a studio. :D Currently, I photograph whereever you need me. Examples being, a park, a specific site that you might have in mind, etc. I can, however, photograph in your home. The photos with the solid backgrounds are simply blankets and things of that nature. (Simple to do with small children)

I am located in Temple but would be willing to travel to where I am needed.

  14. Again, those scumbags should face as severe a penalty as if they were to hurt a child.

    Sickos.

I am a HUGE animal lover and always have been, but are you serious? I'm sorry but in my opinion, a child is MUCH more important than any animal and the law should reflect that.

I agree with you! The death penalty for anyone that intentionally kills and animal or life in prison!

Death penalty? Isn't that a little hash? People don't get the death penalty for hurting a child much less an animal!!!

Don't get me wrong, I am glad that there are laws to protect animals, I just don't think that an animals life even compares to a human life!
