  1. There is an article at USAtoday.com about Hispanics in Paulding county georgia. It says that Paulding county is one of the top 10 counties in the nation with the fastest growing percentage of Hispanics. Since 2000 we have growth rate of 236%.

  2. I have seen this band perform each week and I must say that in MY honest opinion that the EP band half time show is not something to be desired. It is very boring and leaves you scratching your head... BTW, What is up with the stud wall props ???

Everyone has a right to their opinion, but seeing how the Raider Brigade gets all SUPERIOR ratings at all their competitions & places first in many different catagories, I think your opinion may be a bad one.

  3. I am so proud of East Paulding. My children are already out of school so I don't keep up like I used to but, wasn't Etowah going to be one of their toughest opponents this year? Go Raiders!

I think the toughest opponent is supposed to be Harrison High School. Etowah, East and Harrison were the only undefeated teams going into Friday nites game.

  4. Look...School spirit is hard to come by. If you dont like the cowbells-move. I dont use them but I think it is great. Go to a college game and you will hear them as well. EPHS fans who are there every week are use to them, and the people you worry about "an image" are the visitors and they dont hear it right in their ears because they are on the other side. People know when they come into the "Boneyard" it is gonna be loud and hostile-H O M E F I E L D Advantage!

OK. So school spirit is a great thing, just hold the thing in the air and wave it around instead of being lazy and holding it at ear level of the person sitting in front of you.

  5. My main vent would be the cowbells that some people bring and ring in your ears. It would be different if they would stand up & use them but they want to sit & ring them right at the people in front of them head. I know they make noise & noise motivates the team, but is that the image of EPHS that we really want people to leave with?

  6. Also, with the economy slowing down, many parents don't seem to be interested in spending the extra cash right now to put kids in band. Band and color guard are really expensive.... even with fundraisers and stuff, it costs over $600 per kid on the field to perform the show. All this must come from band fees and of course fundraisers.

There are a LOT of families really struggling right now and I almost look for this downturn in the economy to continue for the next couple of years. As seniors graduate, fewer freshmen are coming up from the middle schools to fill the empty slots. I really support the band and many studies have shown that kids in band have a higher grade point average than those not in the band.

With that being said, when a band kid bugs you about buying candy, cookie dough, cokes and discount cards, please please pull out you wallet and support the band. Every single dollar raised helps out the student (and the parent).

I wonder if with the economy being bad right now if the bands that have indoor drumlines & guard will have many students signup. I know those activities can be very expensive also. Doesn't PCHS also have a indoor winter guard?

  7. The PCHS band has shrunk from 120 members a couple years ago to only 48 for this year. Some of that is probably due to the new schools opening (South Paulding & North Paulding). The slip & slide tarp thingys apparently make the field shrink and makes our band "look" bigger.

Now I get it. We were thinking that because you are a BOA band maybe you had to have something to hide your color guard equipment under or behind so the judges couldn't see them when not in use.
